Is it possible to turn off the monitor completely?

Hello all -

I've been trying to search for an answer to this question on this forum and have come up with nothing. Maybe someone can help me by pointing me to a previous post that answers this question.

Is there a way to turn the monitor (idrive display) off completely? It seems as though even when you select "Display off" from the idrive menu, the backlight is still on and the display is pretty much constantly displaying black.

It seems as though this may shorten the life of the display and become an annoyance when you want to drive at night and keep the ambient light to a minimum.

Any thoughts?

You already found the only "off". After 65,000 miles I have not even lost one pixel. The day to night, bright to dark auto adjustment is amoungst best I have ever seen – perfect match to ambient light condition. Apparently no longevity issues.

Most likely your car will be scrap before this ever happens.
