I've decided to keep my 189 wheels on my E93 and just replace the RFTs with a decent all season tire. This car will only be used as a weekend cruiser, mostly interstate driving, but we could get caught in a situation with some snow, thus the need for all season tires.

Given the difference in price I have narrowed my choices to the Falken 512 (I have these on my MINI Cooper S) and the Kumho ASX. They are similar in price and performance. Would like feedback from anyone running these tires on a late model 3 series. I know the Generals get good reports but they aren't made in the correct 18" sizes for the OEM wheels. Might spring for the Yoko ADVAN S4s but they are twice the price of the Falkens and almost twice the price of the Kumhos.

I have the Kuhmos on My S4 and am very happy with them. Go fine in light snow. I didn't encounter any significant accumulation of snow this past year.

i, personally always hated falken tires, i had a set and i wore through them like butter...

go with the kumhos, my 3rd set, no problems and they grip very well

I am leaning toward the Kumhos mainly because I have never owned a set and would like to give them a try.

Tirerack is really pushing me to go with the new Yoko ADVAN S4. They are about $350 more for the set. I'm on the fence. Anyone running these on your car?

A lot of people report tramlining. But, if you live in the area with no grooved freeways and nice asphalt surfaces, these are good tires. Also, I've heard they are terrible in snow and do flatspot for the first 5 miles in cold temperatures.

Had a nice long conversation with a TireRack sales guy this afternoon. Told him I was seriously considering the Kumhos ASXs and asked him to try to convince me it was worth spending another $350 on the Yokos. He said that in his opinion they were definitely worth it. He said that the Kumhos were OK tires but not in the same league with the Yokos. The Yokos are getting the highest reviews ever on an AS UHP tire, better than most Summer UHPs. He asked about how much winter use they would get and I said only if we get caught in a freak snow as I don't intend to drive the car in the snow. I beginning to give the Yokos some serious consideration. Kumhos are still in the running also.

My friend has Kumho's on his C55 AMG and he loves them.

I'm considering them when I get my new wheels.

Did a little comparison shopping today on the Yokos. Closest I can come to TireRack's price when you factor in the cost to mount and balance is Mr.Tire. Their prices, at least in my area, include mounting and one-time balancing. Rotations every 5K are included but on a staggered setup you can't rotate the tires so that is a worthless issue. Total price is about $30 higher. I'm still trying to decide where to take them to be mounted. I think my dealer will do it but they are about a 75 mile drive but I might make the trip. I feel like a heel going to a tire store that sells Yokos and asking them to mount the tires that I bought on-line. Anyone have any suggestions? Obviously I want to find someone who can do the job without damaging my wheels, TPMS sensors and valve stems.

Talked to a bunch of people today at the Import Car Show at Carlisle. Most had lots of positive things to say about the Kumho ASX tires. For a HP AS tire, it is quite a bargain. They Yoko ADVAN S4 also gets high marks but has not been out as long as it much more expensive than the Kumho. Still trying to decide but for my type of driving the Kumho will likely be more than adequate. Will make decision in a week or so. Still soliciting firsthand feedback on either tire.

Ordered the Yokos. Decided that why quibble over a few hundred $$ when I spent over $50K on the dang car. Everything I've heard and read about them is positive. They are the top rated UHP AS tire by Tire Rack.

When it comes to tires, I try not to skimp out. 1k in tires here, or your car up against a pole/wall, just so you could save 500-600 dollars. Granted, you wanted the best for your money, and there is a tire out there for everybody. I personally would go with Falken FK452 or Kumho SPT, if you had to go with either company.

Kumho MX are even better, as well as the Falken RT-615s hehe...

SPTs are a good compromise though imo, both for wear and handling. The two tires I just mentioned (MX and RT-615) are pretty gripy, but also wear out quickly. I also hear if you drift on the MX, that they start to chunk and fall apart, not from first hand experience or anything like that though....haha.
