Coding out SRS?

Anyone know if it's even possible to delete SRS in the car's software?

Afaik, to completely disable it is not possible unless you delete from vo?

Certain airbags can be decoded if you only need to fix the light for a specific bag.

Don't know what "vo" means, sorry.

All airbags are removed except the one on the passenger side in the dash which will be removed when the rest of the cage is installed.

The SRS module itself will come out at the same time.

And all the seat belts are gone as are the seats.

The airbags and seat belts were disabled in the SRS module via a third party coder but that didn't kill the lights and error annunciations on the dash. Thought it might be possible to clear all that crap off the instrument cluster.

Yeah, that's the easy part. Doesn't fix the annunciation symbol in the LCD screen obscuring temp and time. But then the kill switch resets the time anyway so it's mainly just annoying.

Thanks very much, this will save me from continuing to look for a possible solution.

Maybe relocate the SRS module somewhere it won't intervene? If you can find a way to keep the module, I can help you get rid of all the errors....

A common mistake made when coding out an airbag is not having the airbag unplugged. If it still plugged in, the error remains regardless of coding.

Ive had 100% success rate so far getting airbag lights off in E & F series & one G11.

Let me know if I can help.

Oh, well, see, that's the problem. Since the SRS module doesn't serve any purpose anymore with all the seat belts and airbags removed it's just dead weight so the intent is to remove it as a weight savings once the passenger airbag is out after finishing the front half of the cage.

Purty cool being able to kill the airbag lights, that'd be a nice thing to have for the time being. Seriously considering disconnecting the cluster and getting a Motec display running off the CANbus instead but it does make it difficult to manage the turn signals.

Hmm, maybe hard wire some turn signals up?

Could use a Race Technology DASH2 with CAN output so it could read the signaller and effect the signals. Theoretically. What a pita though. Easier to just pull the LEDs from the cluster PCB and tape over the top part of the LCD display which I think is what I'm going to end up doing.

There's some srs parameters in the instrument cluster. Trying unplugging srs, disabling them & clearing the codes.

I just checked & there's nothing srs related in the vo to remove to make it simple.

I think justpete is looking to see if anyone has done this before as a data point before spending too much time thinking on it.

From his other posts in this thread, it is clear he does not know how to code so providing instructions might not be useful.

I have tried getting rid of the light after removing the SRS module and airbags/seatbelts and you cannot do it without the module being connected as the ecu cannot communicate with the module therefore you can not delete the light from the cluster. Thats the error I get at least because I have removed the airbag and seatbelt light when installing bucket seats but module was still connected and can not get it to work now that everything is out of the car.

As far as installing a Motec dash, it is possible as I believe the instrument cluster is only for display and does not communicate with the ecu like other cars...just make sure you can pull fuel level from the canbus, that would be your only problem. Not sure why you need turn signals on a car that sounds like its going to be a dedicated track car unless you are planning on also driving it on the street.

I know this thread is a bit old but I was just doing this exact same thing to my 135... removing all the airbags, seats, sensors, etc.

The way to get this done is in the KOMBI, set these to night_activ:

SFY_ALIVE_ZAEHLER
SFY_ID_MONITOR

You can then unplug your airbag module and remove everything.

I have no reply from MRS module on my e92 320d 2009. I think the module is dead because of battery was flat for a long time.
Do you know the location of airbag module fuse so I can check it before removing module?

I cleared all my airbag codes and roc module codes doing this: *Airbags will not work after this. use for track cars only..

use pro tools or any coding tool.

night_activ:
SFY_ALIVE_ZAEHLER
SFY_ID_MONITOR
(roll over controller) disable this code too.

Then disconnect your airbag module cables under centre consol(I also disconnected roc module too, may not be necessary). All your light will be gone now.
