Are they worth it?

The cyba one's for $40 to me is. Whether they work or not, $40 isn't a big deal to me. I also coupled it with K&N drop-in filter. I also could've gone the DCI route but I'm still warranty and would like the car to look stock.

I think it works in a sense that its circulates air into the engine bay when on the highway...as for performance gains they are very nominal...

Looking at getting the aFe Stage 2 intake. Was wondering if I should get the dynamic air scoops with it. What are ya thoughts.

If they do anything at all, it would be with a closed pressurized system, once you put open filters on, they really can't make any difference what so ever.

lol lighten wallet

there are a couple of other posts here that are older that hammer this out...but long story short RPI tells us all about a few hp more at above 70mph the ability to gauge that is hard without proper testing. I am running cyba scoops and DCI and they work great...I can feel the difference at times.

I can tell you I picked up a couple MPH on high speed sections of the track in the E46 M3 after installing RPI scoops. Unfortunately, I don't track the 335i often or have a baseline precise enough to determine if there is improvement for the N54. FI and NA senstivity to the changed airflow are different too, making this comparison, and hence this post worthless. Hey, they do look cool though

They will make a difference in performance, but only if you're rollin' at 60mph + ........

That would be with a DCI setup ....... doubt they're going to contribute at all with the OEM box. Limited breathing room.

Save the money for a FMIC or DP since you already have the tune. I do not notice anything using the good ol' butt dyno, whether they help out at high speeds is debatable.

Anyone ever log AIT's without scoops?
My logs show 22 deg over ambient temp. WITH scoops.
Ambient temp was ~82 deg @ 55-70 MPH.

You also scoop up more dirt and your filter will become dirty quicker.

Are ya sure 'bout that? Seems there was just as much picked up without the scoops installed as there was with them ......

I think the $120 or so for the AFE scoops is outrageous, but PM cyba he sells them shipped for under 40. I figured every little bit of cold air helps for my hot air intake aka DCI, so for $40 I got them. Still waiting for them though, I'll chime back in when I get them.

I used them in the summer just for the fact they push more air under the engine bay. In Texas is gets pretty hot and humid so I thought a few degrees cooler couldn't hurt. As far as performance.. i think you're dreaming. I did notice more dirt/rocks in the engine bay area.

you would have to hit 700+ mph for them to do anything, it is simple math.

Equation is Pra = (mph)^2 x 0.0000176

Where Pra = Pressure in PSI, mph = vehicle speed in mph, 0.0000176 is the constant for this equation.

So, Pra = 700^2 x 0.0000176
Pra = 8.624 psi

Stock boost is 8.5 psi, so at 700 mph, you would be making the same pressure as the turbo, so net no gain - everything over 700 mph would result in more pressure than the turbo itself is actually making, but then you would create some compressor surge. It also will not pull any colder air since it is a high pressure area when you are moving, it isn't going to scoop any more air.

If you like the looks, then fine, but no one can seriously think they do a single thing - it is like blowing into your vacuum cleaner and thinking it makes more suction.

hmmm...

Going by your logic, any intake upgrade does not work then.
Including the intake installed on your car currently.

It is well documented that all added intake upgrades help, more volume of air and if colder is always better.
