Get them painted like the montego ones. I too have a sparkling graphite and I am ordering them painted to match the color. It gives it an aggressive look while maintaining its high end look

I was in the same boat as you, ended up going with matte black. If I could do it again, I'd probably get sparkling graphite surround, matte black inside. I should've listened to akack79. Painted does look better, at the time I ordered them, I was all about the matte black. Either one looks 10X better than stock.

I've been thinking of leaving the chrome surround the way it is and either covering the vertical gills in black vinyl tape or white vinyl tape since my car is AW. Has anyone seen a car done this way ?

vinyl tape? id think that look pretty ghetto...id say paint it. i get your idea tho. chrome border and black grille. that would look pretty tight on alpine white. look around and tell me what you find

I like either the black or OEM (I voted OEM --to explain...I like chrome! Sparkles....pretty!!!).
I think, although the colored ones (SG) do look nice, it takes away from the BMW trade mark a bit. I love to see BMW's big old kidney gills driving toward me on the road. I can spot them a MILE away! I would be afraid the SG would "blend" too much with the car....for my taste. Take away the glam. And speaking of glam....that is why I do like the OEM....chrome. It still is strange to me that a lot of folks on the boards what to switch chrome window trim for black. Do you have chrome window trim or black? If black, then maybe go with black grills to match up? At this point, I have black window trim (standard on 325--spark graphite also) and would like to keep my OEM (chrome) kidney grills. I kinda wish I had chrome window trim so take this comment for what it is worth since most every one seems to want black window trim. I may have bad taste! I just like sparkle! Good luck. It is fun to hear everyones thoughts and it was HELPFUL for you to add pics!!

I think I'm going to get the black grills. I have yet to see any pics of the one painted in our color. So I don't know if it'll look good.
