Need Review: Vanguard V2 Exhaust

Yes, i did some but i also wanted to get the most recent thoughts/opinions of the owners of this exhaust., especially after some time has passed.

For those that own this exhaust, how much louder over stock is it (state what DPs you have)? How do you like the sound? Is it ricey/raspy at all? Drone is not an issue for me, since i put on about 5k miles per year, and its all city driving (plus i dont mind drone). Yes, ive looked at the Youtube videos, but they arent the best indicators of volume/quality.

Thanks!

PS- I can cut the tips of these and add quads later on, right? Pretty sure i can, just wanted to double check...

I don't own one but you can see in the picture the tips are removable so adding quads wouldn't require any cutting, probably just welding on the quads.

Really? The rasp is pretty bad, even though the exhaust has resonators?

Well, I gotta admit, it's definitely LOUDER than I had anticipated......I'd say it's the third loudest after Eisenmann Race and HPF, but costs significantly less as well.

There's definitely rasp and I have RR catless DPs with the Vanguard V2s. I've had mine for about a year or so, so it's definitely broken in. I just can't justify spending more than $1200 on a set of pipes, so I went with Vanguard. The main point was to mod the car to a true stage 3 versus just the axle back exhausts.

Over all, I think it's good for the price and what it is....The drone is there, but if you cruised at 300-400 rpms higher, the drone is minimal. It's only bad if you cruise in 4th gear doing 30 mph for example.....But nobody should do that right? ;-)

Thanks for the insight! Im glad to hear its loud (well, loud enough)

So, how raspy is it? I just dont want to sound like a Honda I dont mind the drone at all, and plan on going catless DPs eventually. How is the tone of the exhaust? Is the rasp predominant or just in high RPM?

Well, I don't know how raspy it is, as I've never owned a modded Honda, nor have I had any other exhausts on this car to compare it to.....all I can say is, there's some rasp, but not too bad. It might be acceptable to some and not to others. That all depends on the individual's tolerance....

Hope this helps, and GL choosing an exhaust system!

People who think the rasp isn't bad either:
A) Don't have catless downpipes
B) Previously owned a fart can Honda

Here's my review: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641075

FWIW, HKS also has H-pipe and it doesn't rasp.....So I really don't think it's the H-pipe TBH....

Maybe you could add a pair of extra resonators (4 in total as I believe the vanguard already has 2) to get rid of rasp?

That rasp would be a deal breaker for me too. That sounded horrible. Sounded cheap ass too when you got on it. The h-pipe is the major contributing factor to the rasp. This exhaust has resonators already on the midpipes and it sounds horrible. Only difference from this exhaust to mine I would say is the h pipe as mine has an xpipe.
