AE and LED fog lights flashing

I just installed aftermarket AEs.
And Led fog lights.

The issue is, when I start my car, ie engine start only the AEs and Led fog lights flicker or pulse on of for about 5 to 16 times.

Is this normal, or did I get faulty lights.

Happens to Alot of bulb replacements. Simple coding of the warm and cold checks will get rid of that flickering.

Its a cool effect..LOL JK I have the same issue ever since I installed new AE few years ago. Doesnt bother me much, I just manually turn knob to turn them on and flickering stops. Great to know that this can be coded out.

It's the bulb check. That aspect is normal. But not all Angel Eyes or LED Fog lights do that. It can be coded out.

Our HPB 20 Watt Angel Eyes don't flicker on start up.

Normal. My lux reverse lights do it. It's only about 5 seconds, no trouble at all.

whew, and I thought it was just me. I have Lux 5.1s installed, no flicker. But I did get matching HID Fogs, that do flicker everytime I press the unlock button on my keyfob. Really does look like strobe lights. Tacky, but I guess that can be coded out? I figure it can't be good for the life of the bulb, right?

Also, just a couple of days ago, got a 'right low beam malfunction' on my stock oem xenons. When turning the light on/off, it does flicker a bit before dying...does anyone have any idea what this is about? I'm hoping its just a simple D1S bulb that I can replace myself since BMW warranty doesn't cover bulbs. If not, I'll have to bring it in to BMW and get the headlamp looked at, as I'm still under CPO warranty, but I run the hassle of having to take off the Luxs and possibly the aftermarket HID foglights too. I don't want BMW voiding warranty on the headlamp because of those aftermarket parts.

Any input? Thanks all!

you just need to switch your D1S bulbs and it will be fine.

not OEM D1S bulbs but our recommended replacement is the MTEC D1S 6k bulbs, error free and great output!

Will definitely look into that if it is indeed the bulb. Probably will switch out the left side too then, price is for the pair, right?

Any idea what Lux's Kelvin temperature is? Some say 5k some say 4.3k...

Lux 5.1 is 6500K as well? Any recommendations for a good D1S replacement to match?

I got one for you--Osram Cool Blue Intense (200 @ Theretrofitsource.com)

They are a great match to the LUX's. They are also effectively the brightest D1S bulbs available. They have the same lumen rating as the Phillips 18211+ bulbs (OEM standard bulb, around 3400LM) but a different salt mix gives the CBIs a 5000k pure white rather than a 4300K yellow white.

They need about 10 hours to break in, but once they're broken in they're amazing. The people of Hidplanet.com literally go bananas for these bulbs. Check out some of the headlight retrofit pictures and it will all make sense!

My car will be needing a bulb replacement soon and I absolutely plan on using the CBIs.

They really are the best bulbs available. No aftermarket D1S bulb can even come close to these--even the fantastic morimoto 5000k bulbs were no match for the CBIs in Hidplanet.com independent tests.)

I'll always stick to aftermarket bulbs for auxiliary lighting, because it's more convenient and the added cost of converting an OEM bulb isn't worth it. But for something that is not only paramount to my safety, but the safety of the loved ones in my car and others on the road, it's OEM or better-than-OEM.

My two cents.

Just fitted 2 sets of LED kits for High & Low beam. The start-up cold checks do the same thing on mine now. It's like starting up a fighter jet!! 5 or so seconds of sequential flashes before it rests.

How do I code it out? Is there anyone who has tried the kit I need to do that? Or would BMW do it?

Find someone to code the cold/warm bulb check out.
That is the best way.

Cheers.

Any idea where I would find someone who does BMW coding? Besides BMW of course. I need my Head Unit coding too.
