Thanks in advance for your responses!
I have been running it for a few months and its great. Install was a breeze. Not much else to say, but the car is nice and cool

Has anyone replaced the worm style clamps with the T-bolt style? If so what diameter clamps did you get and where did you get them?

Thanks in advance

No, I don't even have the FMIC yet, but have placed a deposit on it and should have it in about 6 weeks. I wanted to put some t-clamps on as i heard they make the charge pipes less prone to popping off/tearing the silcone on the charge pipes. I figured i would go ahead and buy the t-clamps so i could have them on hand when it came time to install the IC.

the clamps that Helix provides are very high quality and will no tear the silicone, I think you'll be just fine w/ them. those are not your standard Autozone worm clamps.

Can someone please explain/show me what exactly you have to trim, and how it is done?

you dont have to trim anything, its just a really tight fit. I've done multiple e90 and e92's w this intercooler w no trimming....assuming you are getting the newest design. Several have required the mounting tabs to have larger slots cut into them, but the last one i did had that done at Helix it seems.

On my 03/08 build e92 trimming was required. There was a 1 inch square horizontal piece of plastic hugging the underside of the radiator on the passenger side that needed to be removed. The raised frontal area of the Helix was hitting it preventing the IC from seating vertically.

Thanks.

For those who have installed various IC, which is easiest to install?

my shop has installed the AA, sttet and of course the helix and they said the helix was by far the easiest with the least amount of trimming.

Can someone from Helix confirm that the newest revision does not require any modifications?

what connecting pipes are you guys using with this.

Pipes from turbo to FMIC and from FMIS to manifold.

I tried searching connecting pipes with NADA?

The Helix intercooler has cast end tanks with factory mounting points and factory charge pipe angles. This bolts onto the OEM piping and should work with most aftermarket piping unless it is spedific to a different setup.

I have Helix FMIC installed. No regrets.
It needed some trimming, though.

only a small % of end users have to do any trimming, we have modified the mounting brackets to allow side to side and front to back adjustments.

we advertise trimming is necessary on the 135i and a small % of cars have to do minor trimming on the 335 and 535...
