Seattle 6HP19/TU MCM/TCU Flash Day

****** UPDATE ****** HookAndPull will be moving the date back a week. So we are shooting for March 9th. Please make plans for a rescheduled flash day as this is not just for people who want to flash, but to get together and hang out as well.

Not sure if anyone is interested, but I'm kicking around the idea of driving up to Seattle if I can get enough guys together to hold a FLASH day. This would be for all build dates 3/07 and newer AT N54's. I spoke with hookandpull, and he'll be pulling something together. As long as we can get five or more guys, it would be worth my time. Rather than you trying to find someone else to do it, I'll come to you.

This is by far the best mod at this time for your AT car. Silky smooth Drive, quick precise Sport mode, and snappy quick shifts in Manual mode. It truly is like driving a new car once you upgrade.

So, let me know if Saturday the 2nd works and if we get enough people interested that will commit to showing up, I'll drive up and get everyone upgraded. Location TBD.

Post questions here and TEXT me if you're in. 503-679-3538

How long would it take? I won't be available until after 3-4. If not, I go to PDX 2-3 weekends a month so I can get in touch with you when I'm in town.

Flash only takes 10 to 15 min. Takes me a while to drive up, so if you can't make it until after 3 no worries, I can stick around to hook you up. It's sick man. I've fallen in love with my car all over again. This flash is NO JOKE. People who don't want this flash are stupid. When I first flashed my car I truly didn't know what I was getting into and OMG, I about shit myself the first WOT and it shifted so crisp and so quick without a blip... I couldn't hardly believe it. Now we find that it no longer pulls timing in 5th... WTF, this is sick. I can't wait for Shift S3ctor because now I'm going to be kill'n it in 5th as I blow through the half mile. It's going to be SICK. I'm looking to trap this go around at over 160 in the half mile, and with this flash and a little FTW Purple e85....

Just a quick quote... Like I said, this is not a joke guys. It's a game changer.

Secondly, WOW.

I flashed my 03/07 production date transmission this evening.
Let me start by saying this. I'll bold it for effect:
Words, and even the video posted earlier do not do this flash any justice. AT ALL.
  • D1-6, S1-6, and M1-6 shown in cluster while driving.
  • Rev matching is truly a night and day difference. Downshifts are so fast and crisp.
  • WOT shifts approximately @6800rpm. I haven't logged my own so this was just eyeballing.
  • Previous software safeties for downshifts have been raised. Meaning, before on stock firmware, if you were to attempt to shift from 3-2 while RPM was above a few thousand RPM, the car was extremely conservative and wouldn't allow it. The tolerances have been raised and allow for much more aggressive downshifts and again the rev matching is a world of difference.
  • Shift times on the good old butt dyno are, again, faster. As described, much snappier.
  • DTC and DCS tolerances have also been raised from the previous conservative settings. I would liken this to the Euro MDM that M3's seek. The car allows more slip or spin before the nanny systems intervene, and when they do they feel softer, not as violent as the previous throttle closures slamming shut.
  • I can't speak on this, but the 5th gear issue for Single Turbo cars has also been fixed and proven by other members.

Overall, as tunes are for the DME, this flash also produces an immediately perceivable and felt change to the transmission.
I've said it earlier in this post but again, it is truly night and day.
It drives like a difference car and made me smile like the first time I tuned my N54.

Major props to Steve and Wedge as well as the other few pioneers on this.
Steve, I'll be in touch regarding the paddle shifters once I can test some other cars.
Then on to the next step

I have noticed the auto trannies are not the best and dont shift as quick as many other dct cars, but didnt think there was a solution to it.

Even if it's not DCT like, it's definitely faster, and can cope better with the added power.
I also heard it solved for many the flatline timing issue going to 4th which by itself is great!

Have you seen or felt first hand how much quicker and responsive the manual shifts are after flash?

And just to clarify, I did say DCT LIKE shifts. Doesn't mean it's as quick as a DCT, just that it's more comparable today than it was before. As you all know stock shifts have a lot to be desired.

My video was a 3rd gear pull. Shift was at 6800 and almost instantly was pulling in 4th at 5400 rpm again. Video doesn't do it as much justice as if you were to experience it yourself. Unfortunately I can't say how 5th feels without flatline because I don't have enough road to pull on. But I did confirm today the down shifts are crazy and you don't have the issues with it not taking the down shift request.

that is exactly what I need, tired of waiting for the down shift to happen when in manual or the delay when shifting up

I am down for a place by some restaurants and some place where we can test the faster shifts as well.

I think some place over by alder wood would be great cause that way we could hop on 405 before it changes to Mukilteo speedway and then flip a bitch.

Highly doubtful. There are N55 codes, but the B3 is an N54 so I honestly wouldn't even attempt to flash.
