2005 e90 Hid fog light help
Hi
I have lux lci halogen angel eyes and now I am trying to find hid fog light kit which is same colour than my angel eyes. I know that 06-07 models are the pickiest and can cause error messages/flickerin. How about 2005 model? I am also confused about the colour which matches with my angel eyes. I have read that It could be 5000k but I cant find any seller who has 5000k kits. I have only found 4300k and 6000k kits. 6000k is too blue but what about 4300k?Is it pure white like my angel eyes? What do you think about this kit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CANBUS-TER...item826d11877f I am trying to find EU seller because if I order from US I have to pay tax. kit looks decent. all you really need is a error canceler as these do have them.
4300k is stock xenon temp. so that might be closest |

Hid kit arrived today and I have tried to search some guide for installing.
Kit contains installing guide for wires but there isnīt any advices where and how to mount canbus box etc. I have found this guide:http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48712 Any tips? Is it necessary to remove bumper? Do you know if there is a better guide somewhere? this one is for e92. |

So I installed this hid kit today
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-CANBUS...item416cdffd69 Lights worked well (no flickerin) but I got error message "Front foglight failure" immediately. And for the colour match... DO NOT BUY 4300k hid fogs if you have lux lci halogen angel eyes because they donīt match at all. angel eyes were crisp white and those 4300k hids yellowish. I had gp thunder 7500k h11 halogen bulbs earlier and they are much whiter. So I put my gp thunder 7500ks back and now I am going to send a message to a seller because he guaranteed that this kit works 100%... There isnīt any kit which will work 100% so that was ridiculous statement. What should I do now? Where I can get better hid kit?(EU or US). and what is the brightest white colour? 5000k? I have heard that 6000k is too blue. I would appreciate your help |

well the sellers "canbus" ballast is probably the wrong type. You need to install error cancelers like i said previously. It won't throw that code once installed. check ebay for them should be cheap 6k isnt to blue. around 8k is a nice tint of blue. You might be better off ordering a kit from a vendor on here rather then dealing and guessing with ebay. Plus i noticed that seller is using 1013mm photo im sure without permission im guessing lol not that it matters. |

I didnīt get the first kit because seller was a bit strange, he didnīt answer my questions etc. I thought that those kits are same products, or is there some difference?
Ok, so that canceller thing should stop error messages, problem is that I dont know which one is correct for me. Can you link me correct error canceller? This thread made me belive that 6000k is too blue: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=5000k+hid+fog 5000k seems perfect option but No one sells hid fog kit with 5000k bulbs.. only 3000k,4300k,6000k,8000k. Maybe I could buy those 5000k bulbs separately? Last edited by dotzmugello; 02-25-2013 at 02:37 PM.. |

Seller responded and he is going to send me error cancellers:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/XENON-HID-KI...item3f1c8042b8 I have searched ebay and found these 5000k hid bulbs. http://www.ebay.com/itm/H11-5000K-Wh...item4d0425322f What do you think about these? I hope these are not yellowish like 4300k. |

Error cancellers and 5000k hid bulbs have arrived. I will try to install them as soon as I can and hopefully there isnīt error messages this time.
One thing that bothers me is that those 5000k bulbs look almost same than 4300k bulbs. 4300k bulb has a wire which is pale brown and and 5000k bulb has dark brown wire? Is that even 5000k bulb? I canīt find any writing about kelvins, only "h11" text at the bottom . I searched some pictures about 5000k hid bulbs and I found some 5000k bulbs with white wire |

Yea, you will need error canceller to stop the flickering and error code.
I too hv lux AE halogen 4300k will be pretty much white with bit of yellow. Correct, 4300k bulbs got that brown rod and some higher Kelvin comes in different color rod like white or blue. Best thing for u to check s put yr 5000k bulb on a piece of white paper, it should show a hint of blue on the bulb if is really 5000k. Is not going to be exact match to the Lux due to hid brand and in different housings (fogs). Do keep in mind seeing it live in person vs camera pix is quite different too.

I tried to compare 4300k bulb and this new "5000k" bulb.. both of them have same amount of blue when you put them on a piece of paper.
4300k bulb has brown rod and this "5000k" bulb has a little bit darker brown rod if you look very closely.. Can it be that little difference between 4300k and 5000k bulbs or is this new "5000k" bulb just 4300k which seller sold me as a 5000k? I am going to install these new bulbs tomorrow and then I will see if these new bulbs are more white than previous ones. I was just thinking if there is some kinda of rule between rod colour and bulb kelvin like: 4300k brown rod 5000k white rod 6000k blue rod 8000k dark blue rod etc.. |

Color rod doesnt really do anything, some use to show what Kelvin is what but I had a couple bulbs from Philips and Osram and 5000k came in brown, white. Post up after you get it install. Keep in mind at startup for like 20s it will be blue then goes to white and takes some hours of running the new bulbs before reaching 5000k. Are you looking mainly on matching?

Yes I am trying to get fog lights same colour than my angel eyes.
I started with gp thunder 7500k halogen bulbs and they are pretty good match.. still they could be crispier white and brighter ofcourse so thats why I am trying to install hid kit. As you know lux lci halogen angel eyes are pure white and that is the goal which I am trying to reach with hids. Hopefully I have enough time tomorrow to install this kit and post some photos. |

Ok, yea it wont be a perfect match or anything. Is pretty hard to match but i think it will get somewhat close and better compare to what you did before. LED also tends to bit warmer on the K scale vs HID so good luck and hope it will work for you!

I have installed 5000k hids with error cancellers and everything works now.
I have still one problem. I installed first only one side with new 5000k bulb ( another side had old 4300k bulb). I tested them like 5min and after that I installed another 5000k bulb. Now that bulb which I tested 5min is little bit more white than another 5000k bulb.. So did I mess up because I didnīt install both of them at the same time or is that another bulb "broken"? I drove car about one hour and I think that the difference between bulbs is not as big as earlier, Is it possible that they will look same if I just use them more? I tried to take some photos but all of them failed.. I dont know how you guys take those nice angel eye/ hid fog pics. All in all 5000k hids are very good match( I believe the best you can get) to lux lci halogen angel eyes. |

So they did send you correct bulbs? When you test the 5000K vs 4300K side by side, can you tell the difference? Most likely one was broken in more since you install it and ran in for 5m. Initial break in period can be like 20-30 mins the first time you turn them on. Then later after many hours it could shift in color a bit Glad it match ok. Is quite hard to take pix of the AE. Once far away it looks all blurry but ok when close up but at different angle and light it can be different color from pix

Yes, you can see clear difference between 4300k and 5000k.
4300k is yellowish and 5000k is pure white. Very nice match with angel eyes. I have driven like 3 hours with these fogs on and still there is a difference between the bulbs.. Should I use them more and hope that they will become same colour or just order new bulbs? |

I have tried now new 5000k bulbs, 6000k bulbs and 8000k bulbs and all of them looked same yellow colour. what is wrong? are the ballasts defective or what?
Those bulbs are from the same manufacturer than the 4300k bulbs which came with the hid kit only different kelvin. |
