Ground Control Coilovers and Spring Rates
Who can tell me about recommended spring rates for this setup on an e92 (335is) that sees a fair amount of track time, but is also a daily driver. Is 430/600 a good setup? This is for the Street/School kit with the camber/caster plates.
Any help appreciated. |

Rear rates might be soft for track but good for street. Do the Koni's actually get valved for the spring rates you select?

Thanks for the input guys. Any other opinions as to the spring rates for my purpose? My car has the "M sport" suspension on it now. This would still be a huge upgrade over that performance wise, right?

It will. Add rear M3 subframe bushings & LSD - both big bumps.

you may want to verify that. re-valving is both costly and time consuming (can take weeks), so I doubt GC has their koni's revalved for each application. They probably use OTS koni's for their kits, and spring rates that work with the stock valving. If anything, they *may* have all their shocks from koni valved differently than the stock units, but at that price of their kit, I don't think the valving is custom. They probably choose rates that work well within the range of the shocks/struts.
Your best bet is to call GC and talk to them. They designed the kit and are usually pretty helpful with questions. They should be able to tell you how high you can go with the spring rates before you need to revalve the shock. |

They build each kit custom and they do actually take a few weeks to deliver each one. |

I checked the site and the description states the shocks are shortened also, which would require them being custom built, so it would make sense that they were valved differently (vs stock) too... so yeah, this is a great deal. |

They are custom valved and they're not the run of the mill dampers also.
You will notice in this community vendors mark up a lot of products. I see knock stuff selling very expensive Quote:
