Ha, you bet! Actually thinking about binning the cluster and replacing it with a Motec display mounted to the wheel.

Drifting with an open diff isn't going to be nearly as much fun as a LSD upgrade, and you don't have to disable features that might save your ass.

I was able to break traction and do a couple circles with the traction control completely off. I also always pop U-turns with it off. The E-LSD works decently on the E9x series. Power never cut off.

I'm not convinced that anyone could drift worth a damn without a proper LSD, but I'd love to see otherwise.

Modern cars' "e-diffs" are OK - sure I can watch Chris Harris shred tires with one all day long. However I have yet to see someone pull Ken Block gymkhana moves on anything but a proper LSD. Wasn't aware that the drivers in Formula drift were still rocking factory differentials. Been there done that with everything except for modern day e-diffs (well, extensively with everything but e-diff.. only played with e-diffs occasionally).. and I'll say it again: Open diff (yes this includes a basic nearly 20 year old designed e-diff) is way too unpredictable to drift worth a damn with. Someone suggested OP is basically a competitive drifter which is what spurred my original comment. I'm not talking about pulling an illegal u-turn on the highway to impress the traffic, I'm referring to transitions with massive smoke for a period of 30 seconds or more. There are reasons that the E9x M3 has a proper diff. |
