Thanks for replying, I think that bulletin was mentioned somewhere on this forum can't remember where but it was recently. Would imagine it would be a hard fix to fix since it's not happening to everyone, of course if you bring it to the dealer to show them usually that's when it "won't" happen.

I have a question-I'm sure it's been posted somewhere on this thread, please forgive me for asking again. On the 6FL can you play your songs by random order? I like using my iPod sometimes in random to get a flavor of all kinds of music I have never knowing what might appear next is cool. I hope that feature is available on the iDrive and 6FL?

I'm in the UK and have 6FL on a may delivered 335d. I have. Experienced the issue whereby the hifi switches unexplainedly to fm radio when starting the car again after a stop. I wondered if it is some kind of delay on the ipod waking up and the car momentarily thinks the ipod isn't there. Keep posting about this, there must be more of us with it.

Just an update - I tried the hold position but I still have the FM switching problem. I'm going to arrange a date today with the dealer to have it picked up and a PUMA done on it ( as they offered ). Hopefully this will solve mine ( and other peoples ) problems !!!

Yes you can play the songs in random order. You can also randomize just within a playlist if you want (nice when the playlist becomes too predictable).

That must be particularly frustrating for you. How many FM stations are there? BBC1, BBC2, BBC3...

It has now been 2 weeks for me with the E93 and so far I have not seen the FM switching issue that many of you are complaining about. As a matter of fact so far I have only seen one random issue with the electronics package and a problem with my mirrror compass. Seems the compass is only correct at the time the engin is started. If you turn a corner it does not change direction unless you turn off the car and restart it !! Wierd.....

No other issues ----- top has been working gr8 and it is fun to watch people stare at it as it goes up and down. Have also noticed many folks staring at the car as I have been driving around as they do not know what it is.

Just took my wife's Lexus RX330 in for service and they gave ma IS250 for a loaner for a few days. NO COMPARISON. It has some of the bells and whistles but really NOLO CONTENDRE.

It is likely that the compass was never calibrated. This usually done before delivery for you, but I've had previous cars where I had to do it myself. Check your manual, there are instructions for calibrating it in your geographic region.

Latest information

Talked to my CA today, and he told me there should be a software fix in less than 30 days to eliminate the Ipod issue where it switches to the next audio input without warning. Owners should get a letter once it is available, so it should not be much longer!

You can find the copy of the bulletin in post #5 of that thread.

Kbps issue

Some of my MP3 files are above 300 kpbs, which, according to the manual, would work neither with the USB nor the CD burned with these MP3's, although I have yet to try it.

I guess my main question is, if these won't work, is there an easy way to down-convert MP3 kbps rates? I was thinking I could burn the MP3's to a CD as regular music tracks (so, .wav's) then turn around and rip them to mp3's of the kpbs rate I chose. That seems a bit assinine though. Any ideas through Winamp or another program?

I'm really tempted to try and play them as-is from a thumb drive, just to prove to myself that they definitely won't play. You'd think the audio system could just down-convert them itself.

Your burning software should give you some choices for the quality level of the files when you burn them. It's probably buried in the advanced settings of the software. Nero, Roxio, iTunes, Winamp.... they should all have that ability.

I finally had success yesterday with the voice command for the iPod. I must have been saying the wrong thing before. If you say "Audio Aux Menu" it takes you to the iPod screen and automatically starts playing right where you were before you switched to a different audio source.

Sorry Zep, I thought this info was posted long time ago and was common knowledge by now. I found it out end of April, when I received the car and I would have been happy to share it with you all!!!!!!
