Question Differential bearings.......??????????????????????

So just bought my first E90 and the seller gave me a discount because the Turbos have the WG sound and the differential needs new bearings....

I'm very happy with the car and want to get it to flawless condition.... I would like to do the diff first, but I've looked hi&lo for the bearings part#s and can not find them.

Diffsonline has them but they are very expensive, and in my own personal experience shopping for a bearing with the manufacturers part# is way cheaper.

Does any1 here have these #s for a 07 335i Manual with the bolt-in ring gear??????????

Thank you,

Rafa

Part numbers for internal diff parts are unavailable because BMW do not supply internals, only full replacement diffs.

Phil,

I know bww has not part# for the internals, but the manufacturer of the parts I.E F,A,G , TIMKEN, etc.... they stamp their bearings and races with the part numbers. With those numbers you can order them from a average bearing supplier for 1/2 the cost.

I would like to avoid having to tare apart the diff to get the numbers and wait for them to be deliverer.

Thank you.

Any luck finding parts or info on replacement parts for the front output drive shaft? These suckers are $500-ish to replace whole?

Go to ecstuning. They have a full diff rebuild kit assembled by mfactory. The kit includes bearings, shims, and hardware.

Even though the bearings have the manufacturers part number on them, they are custom-made for BMW, so you cannot source these bearings from bearing wholesalers i.e You can only purchase them from specialists who have contacts within BMW

When I was going thru this I looked online really hard for the side bearings, because I had the numbers for them.... No luck, the only route left was to spec them and contact bearing manufacturers to see if anything fell within the specs.

So, at that point I made peace and decided to install my MFactory LSD and if it came down to having to replace the SIDE bearings, my plan was to get them from Mfactory.

I know this thread is a little old but I see front differential bearings that are sold by Timken that says it fits 2007 335xi auto. While it says it will not fit a 2009. I'm wondering if this is simply because they can't say it fits a car less than 10 model years old or if there is a difference between the 2007 and 2009 front differential. (My front differential passenger side bearing just went out but not before chewing up 2 axles)

Yes, 2007 and 2009 AT fitments are different, and the Timken/National ones that a few oem part sites have listed are wrong as well. You can ONLY get the oem bearings from a specialist who has contacts within BMW (or is a reseller for a company that does)

No need to search around endlessly on Google for bearings, as you won't find anything.

Easiest method is to just PM me, and I can sort you out

I ended up finding an axle housing for the right side on ebay for 35 bucks with a good bearing. Bolted right up! Replaced with fresh fluids while I was at it. I ended up getting very lucky here.

What's the symptom of a bad bearing in the rear diff?
