Be advised-LHD downpipes does not fit RHD vehicle

I did blot the downpipes on, but today, after I installed my new water pump, I attempted to lift up the steering rack back in position but then I found the steering column is blocked by the O2 sensor...
So why BMW doesn't make all the downpipes in RHD layout, it won't affect anything on the LHD vehicle and they only gonna need one part number....
All those pain in the ass when I was trying to installed the downpipes are all wasted...
So does anybody know is it ok to just seize the O2 sensor hole and let the car run without o2 sensor?

Didnt think there was a difference.

I didn't specify RHD or LHD from VRSF and everything went on. Very tight fit and required moving around a lot so it wasn't touching anything, but it went on.

You may need to move bits around.

Not that simple... The steering rack can't goes into the hole because steering column is blocked by the o2 sensors, it's completely in the way of where the steering rack needs to go...

Your car won't run without an o2 sensor...

Either get new DPs or get the bung moved

Edit: It seems VRSF and AR are the only companies which seem to fit without modification

So which means the o2 sensor provides informations to the ECU?

your primary o2s control the fueling

You can also bend the bung to get clearance. AR guy advised me to do this with 'rhd' ones I have.

Like idnan says it won't run without the o2 sensor. I replaced mine a few months ago due to poor mpg and missfiring

The sensor seems pretty solid...could you please post pictures of ur sensor if you have some? Just want to have a reference

Prob is there is too much variances in these pipes. Mine was only slightly rubbing and a little tweak rotating was enough i could live with it.

Sounds like yours will need taking off. Cant really help other than suggest you trial fit as best you can and work out if the bung needs moved or you can bend it. I would opt for moving it just in case it break trying to bend it!

going to fabric shop tomorrow for a quote, if it's gonna be too much then I will probably sell this one to other EU countries and get a RHD downpipe

No photos but from memory if looking from front of car the bung needs moved slightly clockwise to clear the steering column

I just fitted vrsf ones with no issues at all, took about four hours and the o2 sensors are defo relocated

Yeah because VRSF pipes are designed to fit both RHD and LHD, my cp-e pipe is designed according to stock LHD pipes...

should be a simple job of welding in a new O2 bung somewhere not in the way, and blocking the current one off.

Any decent small fab shop should move that bung for £20 or a few pints.
