Try HID4U, I use them on my X5. No glitches or error messages, and easy to fit. If I was buying again I would go for 5000K rather than 6000K which I find a bit washed out compared to the OEM 4300K on the 335d

cool - so no downsides at all when fitting these in a standard car? I miss my xenons from my old car (about the only thing I do miss!)

No downsides, the worst bit is drilling out the hole in the removable cover which you remove to replace the bulb. Great thing is that this is cheap to replace if you ever remove the kits (ie: when you sell...)

It might be worth reading this factsheet before retrofitting HID
http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/drs/hidheadlamps
As the department for transport have put a full blown factsheet about retrofitting, it would be a fairlysafe assumption that the requirements for correct headlamp assemblies, headlamp wash and self levelling will make it into the MOT before too long.

Factory fitted BMW xenons which includes headlight wash, self leveling adjustment and correct beam projectors to enable correct use and beam pattern.

The Mr Kipling cake tin reflectors will scatter the HID kit too wide. Without headlight wash and leveling the HID kit will not pass current and future MOT standards. Some cars/HID kits are now failing at MOTs due to this.

BMW's computer system can throw errors with many HID kits and LED bulbs

thanks for the feedback so far guys. I do have oem projector headlights ready to be fitted once i find a decent hid kit. With regard to hids4u would it be better to fit a 55w kit instead of 35w. I read that the reduced power that xenons use is what causes the error code? I'm all for doing things to standard but the full oem xenon retrofit from bmw complete with the front and rear sensors is really expensive! If i'm fortunate enough to spec a bmw from new one day then this box will def be ticked! For now I just want to try and make the best of what I have

I completed this mod on my wifes 320d M Sport (2006) a couple of months ago and can highly recommend the MTEC kit. Quailty bit of kit and works 100% error free. I did much research here and you may want to check out this thread (some other links from here):

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ighlight=xenon

I purchased them here which happened to be locally to me:

http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/hid-products.html

You will have to specify it is for an E90 model as the kit is design specific aswell as generic so everything will fit nicely. There is a price premium for MTEC kits as they are quality and for the piece of mind work error free (I paid £160).

Hope this helps.

As long as you use projector lenses and not the Mr Kipling halogen reflectors.
