What kind of plugs come stock on the 335?Has anyone tried running a set of ngk's people got better results using them on bossted M3s and wondered if they would alow a little more timing

The N54 uses a Bosch spark plug. It's a 12mm thread which is different from other plugs that BMW uses which is a 14mm design. The hex on the spark plug is not your typical 6 point design but rather a 12.

BMW says a special tool us used to removed the spark plug. The socket needs to be thin as well as there isn't enough space on the N54 cylinder head to accept a typical spark plug socket.

I'll try to get more information tomorrow on the spark plug and see if NGK offers anything.

I'd imagine unless you did something odd a replacement plug could be had at the dealer and they'll install it for you

stock spark plug is a Bosch ZGR6STE2 and retail is $18.00 per plug.

Colder plugs would only help if the stock plugs were causing detonation. I dont think thats a problem with the N54. M3's came with relatively hot plugs from the factory in a NA configuration, which is why guys using forced induction did a little better with a more suitable plug. BMW designed the 335 engine for high compression and boost, which would include much cooler plugs than they would use in a NA engine.

+1... I was just going to say the same thing. I also switched to NGK copper plugs that were two steps colder then stock on my s2k after I went turbo.

I went with a set of NGK BPR8ES plugs in my 528 turbo. Coming from the stock eta Bosch WR9LS it was good for another pound of boost. But thats a different animal next to the 335.
