Navigation question

Before you start telling this is the wrong forum, please bear with me.
The other day I was riding in my coworker 2012 Passat TDI,what I notice is that his navigation shows the gas stations that offer Diesel by adding "D" in the pump sign. I tried looking at our Nav and I can only see the gas stations but not knowing if offer diesel or not. Does anyone knows if that is available?

There is definitely a way to locate stations offering diesel, but I haven't done it on the nav in a while, so my memory is fuzzy. IIRC there is a sub menu for fuel stations that allows you to specify diesel - I'm sure someone who has done it recently will pop on here with specific instructions.

Why bother. I have found the data in the Nav system is so old and out of date pretty much worthless anyway for things that change frequently, like service stations. This is one of the disspointing aspects of the E90, $2K+ for a Nav system with data that is nearly 5 years old when the car is new.

Does anyone know when the next update will come out?

BMW Assist (called Connected Drive on newer cars) lets you search online for gas/diesel prices and will lets you select the station for guidance. If you have the convenience plan.

This is with $199 plan. Wondering why BMW can't just give us what VW does. Kind of annoying. oh well

When using navigation points of interest find gas stations and it allows you to filter the results with either diesel or gas or both. Something to that effect and I don't want to go look, but that's what I've used to find fuel when I'm away from home!

To search for diesel stations in the nav, POI database (It's usually out of date, but good reference just in case.)
Category: Fuel Stations
(2nd Category line) Category (Several Category Details) : Fuel Types -> [Select Diesel]

If you highlight start search, you can store that and at least for me, it stored the whole search including the diesel selection as a memory item so I can press that to search for diesel stations nearby.
