Thumbs down Windshield replacement woes

I just had my windshield replaced due to a crack. No biggie, except the new window has slightly more curvature than the original and therefore, the cover for my rear view mirror doesn't fit Looks like I'm going to have to modify it by cutting off some of the cover which surrounds the mirror ball joint arm.

I'm sure if I went with BMW replacing my windshield instead of an independent company this issue would not have come about. Then again BMW wanted $1500 to replace the damn window vice the $460 I paid.

Is it an OEM Pilkington windshield or an aftermarket like PPG?

Here is my story I posted last year. This may help you or others:
I broke my windshield on Mon 28-Jan-08 by not being careful. Cleaning inside of car and came up and hit the windshield with my elbow. Don't ask how, just dumb. So I called Safelite and they wanted $700 for a generic replacement. Then I called Passport BMW and spoke with Dirk in the parts department. He quoted me $344.42 + 45 for the rubber seal + 150 for labor = $539.42 w/o CCA discount. I told him I was a CCA member and he said when I came in to let my CA know and they would apply the discount for the parts. He said the windshield would be in on Thursday. I don't know what others have paid for their windshield, but this was much cheaper than I thought I was going to pay.
I dropped the car off this morning and they gave me a loaner and I was on my way. My CA even had the guy save the area where my road tax stickers from my European Delivery were, as so I can try to use a heat gun or blow dryer to remove them.

yea go with OEM and only OEM. and make sure the lower plastic drip rail that goes along the windshield is swapped onto the new windshield or it will leak water...TRUST me
