Insurance time...

Who do you guys use for insurance on here. Currently with Flux with my modified 330d. Price has gone up a little so I'm going to ring around.

easiest thing to do is try a few comparison websites and see which is the most cost effective for the terms you require. there are far too many mitigating factors involved to try and compare what others get...

im with esure though...

Cheers for that but do these comparison websites take into account modifications?

You also need to check if the insurance will replace like-for-like.

I can get insurance half the price than what I'm paying at the moment, but, even though the mods are included they would only be replaced with stock items.

Try Sky insurance. They've just insured me on the M3 for less than my 335i.

yes they do. they ask if modified then have a drop down menu to list what you got.

try all of them (comparethemarket (241 cinema tickets if purchased through them), confused and gocompare as all prices vary even with same insurer)

Surprisingly Direct Line worked out cheapest for me this year. I asked them about bigger wheels & lip spoiler, both are fine with no increase in premium. Transparently biggest no-no for them is wheel spacers! lol

Sky Insurance here too and they are good on price for mods. All declared and still cheapest.

I will try Sky again tomorrow.

Confused came back with £464 with Esure which is nearly £100 more than my Flux price. A-Plan were nearly £500!

Brentacre are fairly decent.

Car is insured on BHP so providing you don't go over this you can do whatever you like to the car without increase in premium.

Aviva did us a sweet deal recently for £332 a month full comprehensive.

This includes my BMW E92 325i 6AT (2007), my weekend toy BMW E46 M3 and, my wife's BMW 320D F30 (2012).

Between us we have a combined 18 years of no claims.

Annually it was a lot cheaper but with a new house and higher mortgage the monthly payments fit the budget. Not bad as we live in a high risk area in central London.

Yeh it is really good I think considering the postcode falls into the "risk" category and a lot of claims get made around here. It's fully comprehensive, two claim protected, includes motor break down, legal cover, windscreen cover, enhanced courtesy car, 20,000 miles on the diesel and 10,000 a year on the E92, 6,000 a year on the M3 and, also includes our travel insurance as we are right globe trotters... in another continent every month it seems...

Hastings Premier - been with em for 4 years now, always deal with them over the phone you get the price lowered that way. Fully covered in all areas with NCB protection etc.

Also found that they're easy to get hold of, polite, call centres all in the UK and easy to make changes when you need to. I added 5k business miles onto my policy the other day and it cost like £60 which was way cheaper than anywhere else. Was also straightforward to make a change when putting my private plate on

Not saying they're the cheapest around but have stuck with them because of the policy cover and customer service

NB I've never had to make a claim so don't know what they're like to deal with in that respect

That's what you get for living in an affluent area of Central London... with two cars on the road and one in a drive... I want to move out anyway... all the money goes on the mortgage... but that is a separate rant...
