In order for LCI tails to fit, you would need the LCI trunk as well or Karbonwerke's LCI CSL-style trunk.

The R&D and mold to produce/replicate an item is costly. For the cost of OEM LCI tails, it only a little bit more than what a rep would run, plus the quality and resale value of an OEM item

thanks, but im not willing to change trunk and buy oem ones.....but why then are all other taillights replicated (smoked, crystal etc) then if the cost was the issue?? I dont agree, lci ones are way more expensive then replicas, you could get oem smoked replicas for example to the e90 for around 150$, im having a hard time thinking i would get lci's for that price, they would more be around 600-700$.....

How is a replica of LCI tails going to fit a pre-LCI any better than OEMs? You would run into the same issue with the trunk as the OEM ones. So real or replica, you would have to get a new trunk anyways.

yea how are you going to make the inner trunk lights look like lci? They have the look of not connecting line to line as do pre lci oem tails, so it's going to be hard to make those inner trunk lights fit a pre lci without having a gap that's noticeable.

Is not that much of a difference if you compare the inner lights on the trunk, and of course i meant that you make a replica that looks like the lci's but fits the pre lci cars...(inner lights)

I think the reason there isn't aftermarket options for LCI tails is because the LCI tails look really good stock!

actually, the shape is quite different. Look at where the trunk comes down past the tail light on the LCI. you'd have big gaps between the top of the inner tail light and the edge of the trunk recess if you wanted to do this. I guess you could fill it up with bondo, but it would probably look like ass.

I think he's suggesting that the replicas be LCI-style in the shape of the pre-LCI tail. why is that so hard for everyone to wrap their head around?

What's the big deal about the LCI lights? Yeah, they look cool because of the new shape, but if you aren't going to change the trunk, you still have pre-lci lights. They have some LED's and the 'bars' are different shapes, but that's not enough for me to want to change to that style.

Besides, most people's complaints when they switch to blacklines is the stock pre-LCI tails have too much red in them. The LCI lights just have more red!

I think there is a high demand for these. Some member did a Photoshop of what LCI blacklines would look like and they look SICK.
