Servicing advice please

My car has full BMW service history. Can it be serviced by a non BMW dealer and still have the service prompts reset on the computer? Does this have any effect on a possible warranty claim with BMW as I have an extended warranty with them.

I did see this in the schedule, but it's unclear if the garage needs to be a BMW dealer. Cheers.

1. a) Care of the Vehicle - You must
keep Your Vehicle in an efficient and
road worthy condition and regularly
service it in accordance with the
Manufacturer’s recommendations and
genuine parts, or parts of equivalent
specification must be used.
b) After each service, please ensure that
the relevant service details are completed
in your service records by the servicing
garage and obtain a receipt for the
service. You must keep all such receipts
for reference in the event of a claim.

Yes, the service prompts are easy to reset.

As long as the garage is VAT registered and use OEM parts then you'll be covered.

Just a quick question about OEM parts. I do understand that other companies make and supply parts to BMW, but isn't OEM a very broad subject?

Yes and have receipts to prove the work if under comp warranty. If it's out of warranty completely and been serviced by non franchised places you will get no goodwill on any major repairs.

OEM designates a replacement part made by the manufacturer of the original part.
