[QUOTE=Gibbo] Helen, we have got your costume sorted for the day.
and sorted Carlos and Oli Thanks for that Gibbo - maybe I need to arrive in an E93 to get the wafting scarf effect, (wonder if James would lend me his) Best not to ask who is Dastardly and who is Muttley I suppose. Need a pidgeon though surely. [QUOTE=Hotcoupe] Very fetching outfit for Helen,I'm sure she'd look good in this: Cheers Ian, I can always rely on you to have a laugh can't I Can think of other outfits though. |

I'm of the opinion Paul had more of a depraved childhood than a deprived one.
I'm sure his pig fetish & fascination with octogenarian females was merely the starting point. I'm looking forward to Paul's UK5 'fantasies'. Viv |

A Wicked Alternative To A Treasure Hunt
How about rolling (no pun intended) a rally into the treasure hunt? Not only would you have to complete the hunting but you'd be doing it against the clock. And I don't mean fastest wins. You'd be required to arrive at a checkpoint within a certain window, perform the treasure hunt task which would include a photograph of a timepiece, and depart on the next leg. To add a challenge to the hunt, you'd only get a vague description of the treasure (the timepiece would be nearby). And both driver and navigator have to be in the photograph.
Devise the hunt course. Put synchonized clocks at all checkpoints. Each team starts with no (0) points. Leaving the starting line at five minute intervals, each team starts out with a time allotment in which to get to the first checkpoint. They would know where all checkpoints are at the start but not the amount of time between them. At each point, as part of the treasure, they would get a card with a description of the next treasure and the time allotment to the next checkpoint. An evil twist would be to have the cards in envelopes with same description but different time allotments (choose your poison). With a photograph of the treasure and timepiece at each stop, it can be determined how long it took them to get there and the team would get two penalty points per second for arriving early and 1 penalty point per second for arriving outside a short dwell window. For example, if there is an allotment of 20 minutes to the first spot and the dwell window was four (allotment ±2) minutes, but you arrived in 17 minutes and 28 seconds you'd get 64 penalty points because you arrive 32 seconds early. If you arrived in 23 minutes and 45 seconds you'd get 45 penalty points and arriving between 18-22 minutes get no penalty. Early arrival is penalized greater to discourage speeding. The time to the next checkpoint begins when the photograph is taken. But to make it interesting, no one would know the actual dwell window at each checkpoint until at the end. This would be to prevent a team from arriving early and leaving late, i.e., arrive at 17 minutes, wait around for five minutes, take the photo, and leave. Two bonus points would be awarded (subtracted from) a team's score for each photograph of another E9x seen on the road. Two laps of the course with different treasures at each checkpoint or two separate courses that each begin and end at the initial starting line. This allows both the driver and the navigator a chance at driving the course. It would also permit some teams going to checkpoint A while others start the course in reverse by going to checkpoint D. Five bonus points would be awarded (subtracted from) the score for each photograph of a member's car approaching you (must be front end and in motion). The evidence would be collected at the finish, analyzed to compute the penalty points, and the team with the fewest penalty points wins. I'll admit straightaway that to do this would take quite a bit more planning than just looking at a map and plotting a course. Some of the members may have to participate as marshalls for the checkpoints. Of course, this whole screwball idea is only a thought.

Apparently the Land Rover brigade do what So Yank has suggested and it seems popular (they do it over green lanes though )
Would take some organising but it is a different take on things. I'd need WC's shown on the map though |
