my car is shaking and no power when i press the gas

so a few weeks ago i noticed that my car was having a little shake when i was in a red light, i thought was because its cold...

after on my way to Boston (from New York) i tried to pass a car and when i pressed the gas to get speed, my car start to shake and the "check engine soon" light turned on but after a few min everything was normal and the light turned off.

Well last night, happen the same and luckily i was almost home (from boston to NYC) and the same thing, car shaking, almost no power when i press the gas and the light "check engine soon" turned on.

i dont hear any noise, no codes, and i even took a look to the engine and everything looks fine (i guess)

any idea what can be?

its a e90, 328xi sedan, 2007 with 85k

Sounds like a misfire, but normally the shake wouldn't go away unless you turn off the car.

This happened to me. Its most likely an ignition coil or a bad spark plug.

Or both... same thing happened to me. Scan tool revealed spark plugs in 2, 4, and 5, as well as ignition coil packs needed replacement.

Once completed, everything returned to normal.

I have the same issue, ordered new plugs and now looking for some deals on ignition coils, so yeah most likely misfire due to one or both of those.

If it were me I would just do new coils and plugs both at the same time for sake of argument and peace of mind.
