Any good shop in NoVA area for a LSD install?

Anyone to recommend a performance shop to install a Quaife LSD in Northern Virginia?

If I remember, a couple other e90posters form the DC area were getting LSDs. Would a “group” install be possible?

We might get a better price as the installer will get on the learning curve after the 1st car.

Thanks.

Wiley... you have been pouring some serious cash into your 335! I bet your youngest son is hoping to inherit it when you will be tempted to get the new M3

Anyway, I heard good things about Curry's, but they are scary expensive.

I usually take my cars to Pro-Imports in Rockville. Pat's work is top-notch and his prices are decent for maintenance and mod work. http://www.pro-imports.com

To those in the "know" about this sort of thing, how much can we expect the price of an installed LSD to come down to? ...and how long till there is a good, proven, product out there?

I hear numbers anywhere form $2K to $4K for this one. For me, I can't see putting more than $2k into this mod to get what I want out of it.

Also, is it safe to assume that this will void warranty on the trans? Is there a Dinan LSD which would be covered by a BMW warranty?

The Quaife LSD had been selected by Hartge for its own 360 hp E92 335, which is good enough for me. Price from Quaife is $1500 or 1600, plus installation. From an hartge delaer, it is probably 2500 + install for the exact same LSD.

Thanks Wily...I'll keep an eye on things here to see how they turn out for people. I like the new M3, but I'm not sure I'll like the price. Plenty of power in the 335, just not connected to the ground right. I hope the Quaife Dif works out well for everyone.

I have a terrible time putting power to the ground with my car...

Even with 275's in the rear and Michelin PS2's...

just too much torque, an LSD is a must...

That's what I have been thinking. My only problem is I might be selling it off in a year or so and don't know how much I want to put into the car that I can't remove. Slowly I am coming around to the notion that I might try keeping it for two years, since the mods keep piling up. If that's the case, I my end up doing the Dif. I'm not sure about the ProCede yet, as I am just as much into balance as I am speed. I would like to be able to track the car a bit and I am thinking, at least for me, that brakes and coil overs would need to accompany the ProCede. Right now, a LSD, springs and PS2s are all I have planned. Hopefully that will be enough to keep me content. We'll see. Are you going to do the Dif.?

Will the LSD really help in straight line? I thought it was mostly for turning power distribution.

My previous car was a DC5 and I got the JDM LSD installed, to be honest I could not tell the difference in normal straight line driving, provided that the DC5 does not have much torque, but still...

I would think it will make a real difference at the track, but not so much for street driving, but I haven't tested an Proceed'ed 335i with LSD yet...

Juan, trust me...after spool gave me a ride in his procede'd 335i, I am convinced the car will benefit greatly with LSD in addition to serious rear rubber.

Try out: http://www.4induktion.com/

Great tuner shop and reasonable rates.
I have had them do a lot of work on my Audi.
