Just thinking how many people making same mistake as I did about 4 years ago and my missis this morning. She was approaching roundabout with one car in front and roundabout is clear (is enough for two three cars go thru.) but car in front of you start driving and than scares to go thru and stops and you thinking that bloody car gone, but is not and you hit it.
Result is dent in our front bumper and damaged number plate.
And other car have damaged boot.

Guilty as chaged although not on a roundabout - it was on a slip road to a main road about 15 years ago - I glanced right whilst following a car through the slip road and the closest car was sat at traffic lights about a 100 yds down the main road, but the bloke in front of me decided to stop anyway & slammed his brakes on - I almost stopped behind him but not quite. I've no idea what posessed him to stop but it resulted in him having a small dent in rear & me a dented front. Luckily for me, it was before the days of litigate everything & he was in an old banger so wasn't bothered, and I fixed mine myself but lesson learned never the less

Did the same but at a T junction. Could see about 100m up the hill that nothing was coming. watched the car infront move off, look back up the hill to check it was still clear only to turn back round and hit the back of the now stopped car. WTF. SHE said she thought she saw something coming. I got screwed over as I had hit her.

How many times I told to my missis to look for car in front not too roundabout or junction. I learn my mistake and now she learn her mistake. At least no one was hurt and she took pictures of our car and other car and driver not holding his neck and complaining. You never know.
now wait for nice worm weather and repair bumper.
In couple weeks I need to do MOT. My number plate is cracked is it fail or not to worry about?

I did EXACTLY this about 15 years ago - the guy in front stopped after he'd entered the roundabout because he didn't know which exit he needed (having passed his driving test a few days earlier). Joy.

It is so easily done. After having done this a couple of times long long ago I am now in the habit that I don't even glance right until the car in front of me has gone.

My mate was the last car in an 18 car shunt on the M1 a few years ago.

Every driver claimed that they were shunted from behind into the car in front.

So, his insurance company copped the lot.

Then probably his insurance renewal went bit up.

At least our insurance is until December. Then I no need to worry for paying more for insurance until then.

I have never actually made contact but have had a few very close calls. People are just unpredictable and a bit stupid sometimes. Of course it is our fault when we hit them.

I wouldn't be surprised if the car in front did it deliberately so that they claim whiplash and put in a personal injury claim. Have been a victim of this dastardly underhand scam myself a couple of years ago.

+1
focus on the car in front and dont take your eye off them until they have cleared off.

Barstewards,

I ran into a car on motorbike 22 years ago just like that (Suzuki RGV250)

The bike wheel wedged under the car bumper, I flew over the bars and fell in a heap behind their car, but the bike stayed stuck upright, undamaged.

Needless to say I had a squeaky voice and a funny walk for a few days......

I think this is very easily done. I used to live in a flat on a junction of the A3 when I was at uni and I saw this all the time!

Unfortunately, it's always the fault of the person behind.
