Do some runs like I posted on my Performance Testing thread. Have you got the JB4 fitted?

Looks smart though and no pain no gain when it comes to fitting!!

Yeah its very common we forget about it and when its raining if you run thru a puddle of water it'll shoot up the pipe and wet the maf and the engine will shut down.. you gotta disconnect everything to dry the maf before it turns on again.
also the chance of getting water in the engine is even worse if you happen to run thru a very large puddle.
I dont think cold air intakes are worth the hassle.

nah not at all...

the filter can get soaked but no water will actually go up the pipe... basically everything takes the easiest path of resistance - if the filter gets soaked with water, air won't even try go through as there is another way for the air to go (through the grills as usual)... if this was the only method for air to come through to the engine (like the STETT intake), then yes, this would waterlog the engine...

if you don't believe me, get a straw and make a hole near the top with a pin and try drink a cup of water when the pinhole is outside the water... it'll be damn near impossible LOL...

the kinda suck force to actually make water travel through the pipe will be insane - like the force of jets kinda force...

had this mod for a few months in rainy london, and haven't even had a stutter also opened up the air filter to check for internal moisture and it's as dry as a bone yo...

Rough calc off top of my head.

3 litres / 6 cylinders = 0.5l per cylinder

0.5l * 7000 rpm (redline) = 3,500 litres per minute

3,500 / 60 = 58.33 litres a second

Does compression need to be considered? Like 12lbs of boost? Don't know how that figures into the calc? 12 psi = 82.74 KPa

Can you inhale with a force of 58 litres a second? Considering lungs are like maybe 2 litres capacity.

I imagine the vacuum is quite a bit greater than what human chest muscles are capable of but I'm sure you'll be fine.

This is actually a bit more complex than I realised. Lets now have an engineer calc the pressure on the small diameter straw versus the 2 larger diameter hoses on the car.

Also all this water would have to get through the intercooler right?

Feck this, just watch out for puddles to be safe buddy!

I am just mentioning from experience, it happened 2 times on my previous car/350z, and heard the same from many others, it's all about hitting the water the right way then? lol I don't know for sure, but it's a common thing to happen.
Edit: I just remembered our bmw's have under engine covers............... if you maintained your engine under tray, it'll def stop water from going in.. my 350z didn't have that so water would splash into the engine bay...

hahaha i haven't actually worked out the maths but i have stuck a bit of litmus paper inside the air intake and it has stayed pink so water hasn't got there

thanks bro! yup lots of arch rolling and alignment work to get it to fit... 10x19 et35 will fit a 275 easy! if you lower than you might have a bit of an issue but on stock msport, you'll be good!

thank you guys!

okokok sorry for disappearing for so long... i'm not sure what happen, i used to be on this forum day and night... i guess work etc. got in the way... not sure... but a lot has happened to the car since...

here goes...

so the last time you guys saw the car, it was on throwing stars in it's winter mode:

i loved not having to care about cleaning the wheels... but i didn't bother cleaning the wrap either lol...

but matte blue was getting boring... i started seeing it everywhere and the car had been matte blue for around 2 years - time to change it up a bit, i mean look this:

a completely stock 7 with the same colour...

anywhoo:

needed to do some fibreglass repairs - damage from the lows... then took off the wrap on the bumper:

then fix the wing that's been raped by my wheels - again damage from the lows:

fixed up the damage:

and this is the end product of a couple of days of work:

.......to be continued
