My car is all black including wheels, and I was never a fan of painting our stock calipers....BUT your thread is making me think otherwise. Good work- like everyone else is saying.

Most people get shunned for their painted calipers because they do such a shotty job of it.
However, it's incredible how far a little tender love and care goes. Well done sir! This was done with love. |

Looks great!
Sorry guys, but this could be a very stupid question. Is it possible to replace the back rotors for an additional set of front rotors? |

Ya, I think I used a 1/2'' brush. Buy a good brush, don't use the one they send you with the paint kit. Thanks! Quote:
we share the same mentality.

I did my in red, with the same duplicolor kit the OP used.
Pro-tip: Buy a 1/2" paint brush (do not use the cheap brush that you get with the kit) for like $3. The paint brush supplied with the kit will harden quickly. 1. Take off wheels and have the front on jack stands. 2. Clean off the brake dust from the callipers. You can use vht caliper cleaner spray to get half of the dust off, then use a toothbrush to scrub off the remaining residue. 3. Tape off the areas around the caliper. 4. Apply the first coat evenly and allow about 15 - 20 min to dry (depending on temperature of the garage). 5. Apply 3-4 coats in total. 6. Apply clean coat (optional), which will preserve the wet shine look. Good luck. Also when I did my calipers, I found my wheel hubs had rust on them. I took a wire wheel brush mounted on a drill and took off the rust. I also took some sandpaper to the hubs as well. After that was done, I sprayed the hubs with grey rust roof paint (everything was taped off). Last edited by liang; 02-02-2014 at 12:26 AM.. |
