Had fun at the Autocross at OSU on Saturday for any of you who missed it. Thanks goes out to David1 for correcting some of my mistakes while driving around. Needless to say, I think if I hadnt been awake for 40 some hours at that point I would have done better, but who cares because I had a blast!

I'd say you looked pretty good out there for being awake for that long. it definitely seemed like you improved as the day went on.

Yeah I started to get a lot more comfortable with the car as time went on. I was pretty much bring held up by adrenalin towards the end there. I left and went straight to work after the event and passed out at my desk an hour into my shift. Totally worth it though because that was a blast.

Being a grad student, makes it hard for me to get out. Let me know when the next meet is because I do need coding done on my car and would love to have one of you guys help me out with that.

I'm thinking about doing something on a Saturday soon. I was thinking that we could meet up at Columbus Cars and Coffee in the morning and then head over to the Tilted Kilt around noon for lunch. I can get the folks at TK to block off a section of the parking lot just for us, and I can probably get them to give us 10% off our bills or something. This would be a great way from people all around the state to come in and have a nice little meet before the weather gets bad.

Ohio Valley SCCA is having a track weekend at Mid-Ohio October 5-6, so maybe the 5th? After lunch we could all cruise up to the track (about an hour). That is, those of us that aren't already at the track...

you're at Miami now right? I know it's a 2 hour drive but there's generally a couple of us at Columbus Cars and Coffee, around about 9-noon every saturday at the cup o joe on olentangy river road. come and go as you please, it's real chill and laid back.

and if The Die isn't there I could help you out with the coding, what are you looking to get done? but if you can't make it for just a casual saturday definitely read The Die's suggestion below:

I need snow tires. I'm probably going to need to buy the wheels and tires as a set. I'd prefer to go used to save some money. I really doubt I'll find lightly used snow tires that fit my style 197's. Any ideas, guys?

Howdy gang. We're trying to really make a presence in the tire market...as tough as that is with Tire Rack and discount tire online and places like that I know we won't win 'em all. But please...before you make a tire purchase do me a favor and PM me. I may not be able to help everyone everytime, but I'll make $10 on a set before I let it walk. If you're not in Columbus, I'll work with you on shipping. In other words give me a shot, I know we're not always the cheapest through our current tire supplier, but I'll do my best...

I havent been able to find one. I called IPS motorsports a while back and they said they dont.

Closest I've heard so far is Turn in Concepts near Fairfield, and All Speed Innovations in Lebanon. Both are about an hour and a half away, but I'd love to hear if any one else knows of a place around here.

You might look for a set of style 156 BMW 16" oem wheels, should be able to find cheap in the for sale section. You may even find a set with winter tires already mounted. If you have the sport package, you may need to move up to 17" rims and tires.

Tire manufacturers and dealers suggest that wide low profile tires have to "plow" a wider path through deep snow and do not do as good in snow as where narrower tires have an easier time.

Fortunately our 325i came with style 156 with 205/55/16 tires. When the tires were worn out I replaced them with style 197's and new Bridgestones. I picked up a set of Blizzak's and thru them on the 156's and they do very well in snow and up her in Northeast Ohio the snow gets pretty deep. Car looks terrible for a few months with the 156's on, but better that then scuffed up 197's after swapping tires back and forth.

Have to head south or pay more at the dealer. The dealer may not be much more once you figure in travel time, gas and lunch.
