Help!! Yellow dtc and abs lights have come on!!

Need some help regarding the dtc and abs warning lights. The car is spot on and drives bang on but the warning lights have suddenly appeared and don't go off. The car was parked for 2 days and on first start they came on. Is it the dreaded dtc unit that needs replacing or is it possible that it's just a sensor?

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure how helpful this is but when that happened on our Z4 it was the brake sensors that needed replacing. Think it was something like £260 for both to be replaced.
Have you got a code reader to check/clear the codes and see if they return? It might just be a glitch

First you need to know error codes. Like me I got 5dc2 that's right rear wheel speed sensor but I change sensor and I still got same error. That means can be ABS/DSC unit failed or the eccentric hub ring that the sensor follows, the teeth may be damaged

Have you had a wheel off lately? Abs sensor should be first port of call...

This might be an obvious question but do you have run flat tyres? Have you checked the tyre pressures? You sometimes get both the ABS and DTC lights if you have a flat which you might not notice due to the way RFT's work.

I did have my alloys replaced and tyres swapped to non run flats but that was over 6 weeks ago. From my own tests in the rain yesterday, the abs seems to work but the traction control is definitely off.

Just had it diagnosed as the hydro unit sensor internal, code was 5E20.

What are my options? I understand there is a repair kit available now. Do BMW still offer goodwill on it?

Try ECU testing. They can repair it. looks like .
It will probably be cheaper than BMW stealers.
Stealers ask me to do only investigation for £200
fantastic! I ask them can I pay more.

Ye I never take it to the stealers unless its a must. I took it to a very good specialist who quoted me 300 to repair. Just thought wether it would work out the same if BMW offered the part and I just paid the labour?

Let's hope it would work for you. If you own car from new then maybe. Because my car is second hand they just refuse to talk about good will from BMW.
I wish you to sort out you car. I'm taking my car even to another country to fix it.

Hi KASPA, just had the hydro repair kit fix on my car for displaying the same symptoms. Think I paid around £340 including a brake fluid service from my local indy.
It's not really a "repair" kit as far as I could understand. The module apparently has two parts, an electrical one and a mechanical one. Instead of replacing both which is what BMW did originally, charging over £1000 for parts alone they can now just supply the faulty side.

Craig.

I had these after a 4 wheel alignment. A reset of the sensor was all that's reuqired to fix it for me

I have the same warning lamps on...someone help! Recently had a runflat tire go flat and that's when they came on. Had the tires replaced with non-runflat tires and they are still on

Hi, can anyone advise on this, my picture is the same as those above, various warning lights are permanently on, but I am also getting issues braking for a few times after starting off, the brakes start to be applied and work, then its like the ABS kickes in and shuts one or more brake off, I can feel the foot pedal push back upwards and start losing some of the brakes. the next time I brake its like its hard to push with reduced braking, and then its ok for the rest of the journey. It started while travelling on the motorway on cruise control, the car drove over some painted out yellow grid lines and the car started to jerk, I took it out of cruise control and all the lights came on, now cruise control will not work either.
Any ideas ?
