Questions about Voice Control
I have the BMW professional Media package in my car with Voice control and am having a problem with it not always understanding what I have said.
If I want it to call someone it understands, understands the number and does it but I've been trying to save some numbers so I don't have to tell it all the numbers to dial but it does practically everything else available but not that. It is so bizarre I wondered if anyone could shed some light on it so I can use it to just say the name for dialling numbers? |

If you ever see a bloke in a blue 330d in south yorkshire calling his car every name under the sun, and using swear words that would make a pirates parrot blush, it's probably me having asked the car to "destination input ... city ... swallownest" to be met with "did you mean Glasgow"
It's the worst system ever, utterly terrible. I even tried speaking in a robotic voice once in the vague hope it recognised it better. No such luck. Enjoy yours though :-) |

I'd say you might need elocution lessons but seems more like the car doesn't want you to talk to other people
With voice recognition you have to exaggerate the sounds so it can easily pick things up. Have you got all the numbers saved as contacts on the phone already so you can just say a name? Once you get on contacts, the idrive wheel is very easy to use but I guess the point of voice commands is to be 100% hands free. The track up/down button also goes up and down the contacts on the steering wheel.

Lol, probably do need elocution lessons but a jealous car would be more of a talking point!
Yes, they are saved as contacts both on the phone and in the car. This afternoon, I discovered that using the word select makes it go to phonebook and then saying select/name it will make the call. It's almost as if I am saying the wrong words. Maybe I need education as well as elocution lessons |

I know this is an old thread but if you press the voice command button and say 'help' it will tell you the available commands for the menu or submenu you are in. Mine works well!

Yes that's a very useful feature. Well worth pointing out.

Don't you just have to understand how the system is programmed.
For example, if you want to switch the radio to FM, you just say "turn air conditioning on", or if you want the navigation to guide you home, you say "Call Fred". At least that's how it seems to work on my car :-)
