HELP! Hissing Engine Sound (2008 328i)

Okay here it goes,

My car has been making this hissing type sound that I can't get rid of. I have only had the local BMW dealership service my car, but ever time I take it in (4 times for the noise) I get the same answer, "we can't replicate the issue" .

I have had to suggest that they look into my lifters and the vanos solenoids (thank you e90post for the tips ) both of which did need to be fixed, but unfortunately, that didn't make the noise go away I am tired of paying the diagnostic fee for the same damn issue and am hoping that someone knows about this.

Loosen the oil cap with the engine running-don't open it all the way just loosen it and crack it open a hair-see if the noise changes.

What about alternator belt tensioner or pulley? Or it's not the exact sound but maybe it's just comming- loose drive chain? It might just need tensioners to be adjusted.

I did have one bad pulley but that was replaced on my third visit. According to the checklist all of my belts are in the "green"

This is with air condition/heat/defroster off right? I kind of get something similar. Never bothered to dig deep into it as nothing seems out of the ordinary

Yep, no AC, heat, or defroster on. The car doesn't run as smooth as it used 2 it starts up kind of rough

Garage List
Sounds like it might be a vac leak based in the shuddering and rough starts. I would try replacing the all the vac lines on top of the engine and see if that fixes it.
