E92 335i Mtech install questions: Part

Hello,
Installing the Mtech kit myself and trying my best to follow guides from Tischer and some post on here. Just by searching and looking at pictures, part #51118044378 is the same for two different parts and I have both. I believe the solid part is the one used for the 335i. But I'm not really sure, or why it would be.

I understand the whole thing about the oil cooler but this is the other side.

Wish there was a more detailed DIY for the Mtech.

Thanks

The piece on the left goes behind the piece on the right. The mesh part should be attached to the actual bumper first, then that solid piece goes behind it.

The side grilles are supposed to be blocked off, unless you have an oil cooler. It's only the middle grille that's left vented, which explains the purpose of the new brake ducts.

If you're still confused, shoot me an email and I'll send over the installation guide ASAP.

Thanks, that what i thought. have to take the fog off that bracket and add to the other. But I wonder if it's needed. Doesn't it still have to cool the brake duct?

anyways, any other installtion guide stuff appreciated.

That's right; the mesh part should be on the bumper, and the foglight/lens itself should be installed on the other part (left one) first, then attached behind the mesh.

The new brake ducts reroute the passage of air so that any air drawn into the center grille splits up and gets directed to the sides of the car. The mesh areas on the far left and right sides of the bumper are blocked.

Actually, if you have an oil cooler, there's a different piece that comes with the kit that leaves an empty space

I did mine without taking the wheels off, probably easyier to just take them off, I had to turn them back and forth a few times to get into them, but worked fine.

just installed.

I just installed. Not as difficult as I thought. I replaced didn't replace the brake ducts or the fender wall. I didn't notice a difference when installing. Maybe I didn't do it right but it fit just fine. I just reused the brake and oil cooler ducts I already had. If anyone thinks this difference is important please let me know.

Also, what side is the oil cooler on for cars in europe? I'd assume the same. But it was weird because I would assume that passenger side(the side with the oil cooler) would be the open lower grill, but that one was blocked and the right one was open. I also, had a lower left grill that was open so I just used that because it made sense.

anyways, here is a quick picture.

I had to cut my blocked foglight grill myself because they sent me the non oil cooler one and I didn't want to wait for another one.

Look at the openings for your brake ducts - if you use your old ones, they sit right behind the painted part between the center opening and fog light openings and don't really get any airflow, the m-tech ducts relocate the opening further to the center of the car getting them behind the center grill on each side. Probably not a big deal if you don't track your car or do a lot of heavy braking that needs the extra airflow to cool down.

Looks good!
