Sooooo I just got my 335i about a month ago and I decided to get the BMW wheel and tire protection program just because I have a bad streak with flats as of late (I plugged my own flats on my last car but now have runflats so I cant ). I have the M-Sport package with some nice 18" wheels that I would love to powdercoat/paint gunmetal but am concerned that will void my warrenty. Does anyone know if I would be able to do this without having the dealership freaking out?

I would prefer to powdercoat as the finish lasts longer from what I hear.

I don't know why you wouldn't be able to paint or powdercoat, that's stupid if you ask me. I don't know the rules there but wanted to mention I had 2 nails within a few weeks of eachother on my rft's.
Despite what some say or swear by, I plugged them anyway, no problems what so ever! Holds air fine.
Still have to get new tires anyway for wear reasons and tossing the rft's altogether but in a pinch, the plugs work fine!

Why can't you plug RFT ? If you drove very far while flat sidewall might be fu/(- so don't plug. Painted wheels will never void warranty. A leased car is expected to be returned same color though.

i think it depends how bad it is, i had one of mine plugged before and it held at least 6 months till i changed it for the winter set, will go back on in the summer, dealership actually did the plug for me saying it was fine since i got there soon enough :/

I went to my dealership about a month ago and asked this very same question. I was told that there wouldn't be any problem, obviously they'll just replace the wheel with a stock, unpainted one.

you can plug them?!?! Wow now I really want to drop my protection plan... lol and I'll double check with the dealership if i can paint or powdercoat them just to be sure but I think I'm going to go ahead and get them done now. thanks for the replies.

I'd check with your local dealer first as some may be more relaxed about what's covered than others.

^ so what your saying is I should just bite the bullet and buy myself some VMR wheels? jk but seriously Ive been eyeing your gunmetal VB3 CSL wheels for a while now. They are probably going to be my summer wheels and I'll keep these stockies as my winters and just cancel my protection plan.
