H&R lowering springs - have I been scammed?

Hello!

I have just bought some 2nd hand h&r springs for my E91 LCI. The seller said they'd never been mounted, and they also look brand new.

However, I can't find any markings or anything that could verify to me that they are infact h&r springs. Theres only a small label on 2 of them with a barcode. They're just black with no imprints or anything else.

Can anyone tell me if h&r springs really just looks like that? I can't help but to worry that I might have been scammed.

Do they look like this? They seem to say H&R on them

They should have the H&R logo + part number painted on the spring coils

Never saw a set with barcode label or without paint as above

No they dont. Those also deems to have kindof a matte finish, mine are more shiney-ish. But often you cant rely on the pictures thats posted online by the nanufacturer, so i was hoping that someone that have had some identical springs in their hands could tell me if they really should look like that

OEM springs generally have a barcode sticker on them.

Sorry to hear you might have been. I never had a issue with this before until this forum. Idk if people are just trying to make a quick buck, or if they really are that ignorant about the parts they have (tough to distingush the two sometimes). I've seen and even purchased myself, parts on the Classified that aren't what the OP says they are. Pics provided sometimes can even fool you if taken at the right angles, shop careful.

I've installed H&R springs before - they have painted logo + part number as I stated, no barcode

Maybe a shipping mistake. Hopefully the seller doesn't go MIA and you can follow up.

That's what I was afraid of. They don't

The stickers has both a barcode and a 2 digit number (can't remember the exact number). But I think they're OEM springs then

Thanks mate. Actually I bought the springs on eBay, so blaming the bimmerpost/e90 forums probably wouldn't be fair in this case and the seller delivered the springs to me the following day, so I could inspect them before purchasing. I just didn't wonder about the missing tags at the time.

Thanks to everyone for helping. I'm now entirely sure that the springs I got isn't the H&R that I purchased.

Fortunately, the seller has offered me my money back! I will probably never know if he was trying to scam me or if it was an honest mistake. He told me that he had bought the springs from a buddy which had bought them for his E91 but never got to use them.

So I'll just go purchase either Eibach Pro or new H&R springs from a dealer instead. Which do people recommend?

Are the Eibachs really so much better? This may be a stupid question, but how come the H&R's are so much more expensive they're not as good?

Someone else suggested H&R to me too. Personal preference on ride smoothness?

I always buy from a reputable vendors. Might be a bit pricey but atleast you have the peace of mind that you get the real thing.
