The problem with the wastegate wear is not the rod itself, it's the bush that the rod goes through. With the heat cycling and soaking that is in the turbo, that bush starts to deform and wear quickly, allowing the wastegate rod to travel sideways and thus getting worn and stuck. If the bush is redesigned and the wastegate crank modified to suit, then the longevity will be much much greater. There is no problem with the wastegate seat diaphragm itself - all it is is the wear of the bush as the pictures of my turbo show.

Turbo Dynamics have addressed this issue by remanufacturing the crank bush with a completely new insert.

LOL It almost looks like we'll have to organize a trip to the UK for our European members on here... I'm going over in February or March, mainly for the Quaife LSD and an install of M3 parts at the same time. Depending on the price and my financial situation () I just might do an upgrade...but the problem is also the time needed for this, I won't be able to take a week or more off in order to do this. But we'll see when the time comes.

i ordered the Quaife from Bird and got it shipped to Sweden. The install was very straight forward if done by a good BMW shop.
M3 parts shipped as well from US and installed in sweden.

Is it cheaper to get the M3 suspension arms from US or UK compared to Germany-Belgium-France???

I plan for a full M3 suspension retrofit, then do the quife + turbo + ECU map

You can order everything from BMW if you have all the codes. Its just bits and pieces and they are not that expensive. I paied 1800 USD from Tisher shipped to Sweden FOR ALL M3 bits but unfortunately they dont ship anymore outside the US which sucks .....
The problem is mainly all the pieces necessary and not missing any. you dont want to have the car jacked up and notice you are missing a piece.... HP Autowerks also sell this stuff and ship outside the US.
The Strut brace and sways are easy to order but the other parts can be tricky. You need to search a lot on E90post suspension threads and write down all the codes.

Depends on whether you manage to avoid custom duties (then it's most probably less expensive to order from the US). It's certainly less hassle to order the whole kits from a site like HP Motorwerks, as Enrita wrote (which is what I'll be doing in order to be sure not to miss a piece). Not the sway bars, though, they're too bulky.

But we're going a bit OT here, back to Tony's upgrade.

Turbos are on the car and it runs fine... Just not at peak efficiency until DMS re-modify the map..

Might join him tomorrow if I can get this damn presentation sorted !

SJ
what he said

turbos are back on - had an issue with a split o-ring on the water line union, which wasn't discovered until the engine was fired up and coolant started leaking out! Everything apart again just to get to that leaking union. O-ring replaced, and hey presto everything works!

Just a few things to do early on tomorrow morning, then down to DMS

Car seems to run fine with the map that's already on the car. Haven't driven it in anger yet as we're doing other things to it whilst it's on a ramp. Will see what happens post remapped remap !!

Tony,
do you have increased turbo lag or lets say turbo spooling time?
Are turbos on at same rpm as before?
This should be only dependent of turbos and not of flash...

I am really curiois because I look for turbo upgrade that don't introduce more lag or shifts the power band up...
