I kinda hear you. I'm running ar cattless dp and ACM exhaust mod on my sedan. It sounds nice but at 5-6k I can't tell if its rasp or a buzzing noise. I might set up a camera on an open road and do a few pulls.

Was also contemplating changing my mid pipes to an xpipe but I'm not sure if that will help much.

All you guys crack me up that post all this info about an exhaust system you've never owned or experienced. You just post up shit that everyone's already read. Before my PE my car didn't pull nearly as hard up top and by more than 5hp I'll tell you that. These numbers you're posting are from a stock 335i with the PE, not a bolt on, tuned E-85 335i with the PE. Keep posting up ur google stuff tho, whatever helps you sleep at night

Key words are UP TO which suggests best case. Since BMW posts all it power numbers at the crank not the wheel the exhaust does not do squat for performance but it does sound good.

Anyone who believes BMW is in error with their numbers should post before & after dyno runs.

You're better off spending that money on a full catback exhaust and get the weight savings IMO.

GL with your decision though.

OK - you never did a before & after dyno run, know more then the BMW engineers who designed the system & wrote the specs of what it does also the guy who designed & built your tune so what can I say in the face of all that knowledge except you are not running much in the way of bolt-ons to stress a stock muffler set with stock turbos.

Then again you can always post some dyno runs or before & after 1/4 mile runs to prove your point.

Terry set some 11.1/11.2 record runs with OEM cat back exhaust.

http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-135i-Timeslip-24194.html

Key component in the exhaust track is the down pipes once that's done you are pretty much done unless you are looking to bigger turbos.

So the bottom line is you dropped some big bucks on equipment that does not give a measurable increase in power no matter what you 'feel'.

BTW my 335IS has a factory system that is closer to PE than pure stock & just makes a nice sound not measuarable power increase. Comes with the car & I would not pay extra to add one on for just power gains.

Terry has the N55 mid pipes that are not catted. Your argument is invalid.

HotRod 182 Stock mid pipe stock exhaust

ET's 11.1 11.1 11.2 11.3 best trap 129mph

http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-335i-Timeslip-23471.html

He drove Terry's car on the record runs.

Terry's also has catless downpipes + way more horsepower then PR3CI5N but at the end of the day or end of the pipe the exhaust still has to get out through the oem mufflers which don't seem to be causing restrictions & certainly are not going to cause a restriction on a car with just a tune & downpipes.

That being said if you think the BMW PE system is a good performance per dollar spent, buy one & enjoy it.

Would also be nice to see a before & after dyno run from anyone who gets one

Unless you can show me where those times stayed consistent after replacing the mufflers or deleting them, i dont see how those results relate to this thread topic. We can all agree that an aftermarket exhaust/mufflers arent needed to make decent power, but i think its misleading to state that you will gain no power from it. Having a less restrictive exhaust (on a turbo engine) will always produce more power, end of story.

Dammit I wanted to get dps this spring to get more power but reading all these comments about it sounding bad with the PE. What about the AR design catted dps?

From what i have heard, if you use Hi Flow catted downpipes it should still sound good.

On my new car I go for the 335is Exhaust with the AR DP's.
I did actualy like the combi AR-PE but it is to loud upon cold start.
High revving on the highway -> it's a screaming headturner in positive sence.

Shivs 640+whp single turbo, exhaust make unknown to me, ran a quicker 10.8 but with a N20 shot Hot Rod holds top speed at 132.7mph through stock mufflers.

Is he going to see any measurable increase in power or just a better sound for his $1000+ purchase. My answer is no power but more sound & there is a lot better ways to spend a $1000+ & get a much quicker car. I listed cars running 11.1 over 129 mph on stock mufflers & looking into that, if increased power was what I really wanted for a good price, I would be looking at meth injection to go with my down pipes.

Eurotuner did a 135 project car with the PE as part of the package the started with a 10whp loss on the first pull & I believe after some adaption & ecu cleanup at the dealer worked it down to minus 3whp. As far as I know its the only before after dyno runs that are published.

Your opinion may differ but at the end of the day its the OP's money to spend.

Its not misleading. On even 328 or 325, if you replace the muffler, or delete it, you're not going to feel anything different in terms of power. Your butt dyno cannot read the difference within 5 hp. you'll have more gains deleting cats rather than an axleback.

the axleback is to far from the engine to see any gains. The only gain you can feel is the weight loss from a muffler delete.
