Running Cobb 2+ on OEM IC

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what the consequence was or if anyone has experience running stock IC on Cobb stage2+ without an aftermarket FMIC. I know weather here in La doesn't get too hot so would the stock Intercooler suffice? I am not looking to track it, just occasion sprints on the streets, I mean highway Ps I am running catless downpipes.

Won't be too dangerous but you won't get all the potential from your car.

Also, you might want to post this in the turbo section.

Only way to know for sure is to log it. Also, it's not just the heat soak but the amount of boost it pushes. I believe Stage2+FMIC peaked around 18lbs for me at one point - not sure how well the stock hardware will hold up to that.

In all honesty, if the manufacturer says FMIC is required, they say that for a reason. Just get yourself an ETS 5", it's $770 and requires no cutting

Your right about that! I thought maybe we can get more power running that tune without too much harm to the engine. I will post in the other section and see if anyone else has or had some experience with it. Thanks for the response

Damn, that's pretty crazy. Things would probably fall off at so much boost haha don't want to spend more fixing it than the price of an IC. I was leaning toward the helix, but I would research some more about the ETS. Should I ask why, but this will probably turn into Helix vs ETS thread...oh well. Haha

Fmic is very important to run tune that requires it.
Get evolution racewerks fmic. They make best fmic and also they are local to you.

It'd be understandable if you ran the Cobb w/o an upgraded FMIC if you had meth injection because it essentially negates the use of the FMIC except in standstill and heat soaking while not injecting, but Cobb requires a FMIC for a reason.

Even on my MCS I ran stg3 with a Forge FMIC and an Aquamist meth injection system.

I didn't know that about running meth! Thanks for sharing.

I know the importance of running a better FMIC than our OEM, but was wondering if there was any harm running on a higher tune on the stock Intercooler...seems its better not to risk it!

Last thing we'd all want is a charred engine bay.
