"I finally got to drive wavetrac on the track- significant improvement vs quaife. It is significantly "smoother" in how the power transitions when you are rotating the car in a corner. The biggest surprise was how the car pulled me around when I put 2 in the dirt. It is easier to drive under poor traction conditions.

As far as daily driving, it doesn't seem to effect it much. Noises are quieter than quaife. It howls a tiny bit when i break 475 lbs torque range on my e85 map but zero slippage or problems of any kind. I got almost 2k miles now at this power level on the diff and it just hooks up at the end of the day..."

"Yeah, it distributes the power so smooth it isn't the drama queen in the noises and abrupt changes in power distribution like some other diffs. Let me know if you run faster. I think you can go faster with smoother power delivery transitions..."

I suggest we try and get Brett Anderson's (KMS) opinion on this.

Can someone confirm these if they fit or work on early production Auto e92?

Sure that will be 34.99 for a comprehensive answer including parts and labor costs for five of the closes shops in your local area, or 14.99 for a yes and no.

This is an interesting product which functions in a mechanical fashion similar to the M-sport diffs. However, I wonder how it will function with the factory traction control in icey conditions. Since the Quaife operates like an open diff if one wheel has zero traction, the factory traction control applying braking to that wheel will work perfectly.

With the Wavetrac it mechanically applies resistance to cause the helic differential to shift power to the other side. How will it respond if the car intervenes before, during or after this mechnical operation?

Lastly, I am definitely interested in the product, but there seems to be little real-world feedback versus the extensive history with Quaife's products.

You bring up interesting points.
Right now, once one wheel slips the DTC steps in.
I'm assuming that when this LSD is installed, once one wheel slips then the other wheel grabs. Once both wheels start to slip DTC steps in.

This is how my LSD worked in my GLI.

So are you saying the mechanical power shift in your GLI reacted more quickly than the traction control? Also, what type of diff (Helical or Clutch) did you have?

Yes, that's what I'm saying and that's what I'm hoping for the 335.
I had a torque biasing LSD.

It's almost always used as a front end ^^

I'm thinking I'll pick one of these up too.

[rant]

What's holding me back is my car's poor reliability. It just makes it hard to pull the trigger on anything.

Everytime something stupid happens I think : "sheesh.. I'll upgrade this thing, I'll have no warranty, and then the car will fall apart".

I've got 9k miles ...

- AC has been fixed *twice*. (turns out it was bad parts from the factory)

- Wastegates rattle (only a matter of time before they start sticking...)

- I found my front diverted valve DANGLING. I was lucky to have my windows down and no music on, so I heard it leaking boost like crazy and I didn't blow up my turbos.

Plus the HPFP could strike any time.

I have a carrier in my garage waiting for an LSD... but I need more time to see if the car is gonna shit itself before I start spending gobs of cash on upgrades.

Sigh... I wish BMW build quality was at least as good as my DSM was.

From talking with Wavetrac, one of their vendors has to set up a group buy, then Wavetrac supports the vendor. Any Wavetrac vendors out there in e90post-land?

There was, there was a post introducing it a while back. Maybe they got banned when they tried to market their product without sponsorship?

Did a price check.

$1170 on this site
http://www.phantasmusa.com/bmw335ie90.html

If a group buy could get this in the ~$1050 or so range...

This seems like quite a limited audience. How many different models of diff are there over the lifespan of the E92?
