I have a pre LCI with Auxiliary input only. I have the HI FI set up. I do not have I drive.
Reading around on here, Technic mentioned an updated unit with built in USB and BT. I won a bid on a unit off e-bay but the guy is advising against the purchase. He says that as my BT already works and because I want a USB solution that I should buy a MULF2 High as the new version is not correct for my MOST. This has confused me some as I was under the impression that the unit only requires coding. Furthermore I have now come across units that have a blue quad lock and a black one. Any advice appreciated. |

There are versions of the Pro Radio that don't have Most.
There are also versions that have USB , bluetooth , Sat Radio and HD FM and a Most Bus. They seem to have a different range of models in Europe. If you don't have anything on the Most Bus or no Most Bus at all you might be able to use the one with Most or without it. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=687463 The Radios with the built in USB started showing up around 2010 before that you needed the Mulf module to get USB in the US. This Makann00 should know the details and is somewhat local to you see the following link. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=704363 Last edited by ctuna; 05-05-2015 at 01:36 AM.. |

Thanks for the links. I came across them a while ago. I intend to ask Makkan to code and install.
This is what he said: Hi, I think this radio will probably not be ok for your vehicle. Do you have hifi or top hifi? Because this radio does not have optical MOST connection which is required for TOP HIFI. (sound signal from radio to top hifi amp is feed per optical cable). If you have only HIFI, it may work. But your original radio for sure will be with MOST because you have phone. I believe you have MULF module which also requires MOST network. Also microphone you have will be connected to MULF module, not to radio. So even if you wanted to install this radio, you must connect microphone directly to its plug, as well as you need to buy usb/aux socket and connection cable. I can give you part numbers, but it will be better to double check if radio is ok for you. Because if your phone is working and you only want to retrofit USB for music playback, there is another solution that could be done with the radio you already have. You just need swap your MULF2 module with better MULF2 HIGH, and to this one also supports usb. It also requires to buy cable and usb/aux , change connector at mulf and make some minor coding to retrofit usb audio interface (I think 6FL). Regards, |

He has done these I would go with whatever he says.

To bad you can't do a combox for a pro radio (its what I have been told) that would get you streaming bluetooth audio to. Be careful with the terminology because Hi Fi and Top Hi Fi are totaly different in the connection between the Head Unit and amp number and quality of speakers. |

Sam suggested the revision 3 unit. I dropped him a message but his inbox is usually full. I have HI FI as I ordered the technic HI FI harness for sub last year and it works great.
ps. Sam if you are reading this. Will my DAB unit work or do I need an optical connection for that? Thanks Last edited by Soul_Glo; 05-06-2015 at 12:34 AM.. |

The seller is right.... if the radio hasn't got MOST, then you will lose DAB.
HIFI doesn't require MOST. If you just want to add USB, then it'll be easier to add a MULF2 high. |

MULF2 High looks cheaper on flee bay. One can be had for £90 but there has to be more to it. Or is it just the cabling and MULF2 High? Cheers |

No the EU version does not have internal DAB. Some EU versions do have HD radio though but HD stations are limited in the UK. DAB is under threat here and so it should be because it is poor compared to HD.
