Newbie 335i

Hi newbie here,

Just put a deposit down on a 2006 335i should be collecting next wednesday!

Got a reasonable deal, although i didn't like the fact BMW pushed very very hard for me to take out a loan against the car, that i didn't want or need, and also pushed the 4 package insurance protection at £1795.

Welcome and well done for saying NO, I presume. Wait until you pick the car up, they'll try to sell you all sorts else.

Yup, in the UK the E92 SE Coupe was available in '06, the E90 Saloon also I believe. The E93 Convertible & M-Sport models didn't surface until '07.

enjoy lads, they are fab motors. Had my 07 plate e91 for a couple of years, normally the time I look for something different. Not this time, I cant think of another car I could afford with this performance, goodies (mines pretty heavily loaded) practicality and I'm getting about 30mpg on the commute. Nothing out there comes close. Get some pics up soon

Thanks! I ended up being in there for approx 2 hours telling them i didn't want any of the extras even the floor manager tried just before i left the showroom.

Ended up paying a reasonable price so i guess it was 2 hours well spent. Just wish it had Bluetooth and heated seats as my current car has nearly all the mod cons.

Frustratingly its going to be another week before i pick mine up now Can't wait now.

They are great cars and for the money, I personally dont think there is much out there that can match them.

Had mine 3 months and loved every minute of it...get 35mpg on a run too and I am averaging 30mpg....

The Bluetooth and Heated seats are a great feature, just wish I had I-Drive, if nothing more the look of it, as hear the early versions arnt that great.

Bingo.

Bought my tourer new in March 09, it was the best car I ever owned by miles.

Now its 3 yrs old its EVEN better, comfy - luxury express, fookin fast, practical, goodies etc

And without the missus and kids on board, it will blow most cars off the road.

Just about to buy it for £12k final payment - bargain!

There's a place over here in Surrey that can do the seats and Bluetooth. I'm going to have them do my Bluetooth so I'll post up the results once done .

Yep especially after being used to having it in my current car for the last year.
I have the i-drive system, professional nav system. I will probably upgrade the stereo system soon after i collect it.

Keep me posted on how the bluetooth install goes. Does it allow bluetooth enabled devices to play via the stereo or is it just for calls etc?

I'm thinking of buying the following car and need some advice:

2006 E92 335i M-Sport
39,000 miles
Fully loaded with all extras

Comes from an independent dealer with 3 mths warranty
Price asked is £14,000

Is this a good deal? Also it's supposed to have just had the service done by a BMW dealer but the I-drive indicates it's overdue? Is that possible?

Are there any major issues I should be aware of? I'm currently cautious as I know a little bit of the previous owners and I can see they smoked in the car and mis-treated it a little bit. I'm not sure if this is a deal not to be missed?

Thanks for help on my first post!

I just payed less than £13000 from an independant dealer for an 06 335 fully loaded, full history, 1 years mot, just been serviced and only 31k on the clock and the car is pristine. Also made sure I got a year instead of 3 months warranty thrown in to the price for what its worth.............so I reckon there are better deals out there.

Also, there should be no indication of an overdue service. If its supposed to have just been serviced, that should not be there full stop. Sounds a bit suspect to me.

I had a full RAC vehicle inspection done on my car before I bought it and came back completely clear. It costs a bit but personally I think its great for peace of mind.

Let us know how u get on.

Just to sort of back up what 335tim is saying.

My deal was £13850 from BMW Approved Main Dealer
34,000
FMSH
Cream leather
Pro Nav system
I drive
Completely refurbished 19" 230 wheels
Sunroof
BMW warranty and the rest of the stuff that comes with buying BMW approved

So i think 335tim is right there are better deals out there, also i personally would not spend out that kind of money without getting at least 12 months warranty.

I am not as clued as alot on here, but I didnt think the M-Sport version was released until 07.....

You would want more than 3 months warranty too....try looking at BMW Approved cars as they come with a year....worth it for a year of peace of mind driving.

I bought my car from NI as it was the exact spec I was looking for (well pretty much) and there was nothing around in England and I have had one thing go wrong with it, the lighting module and took it to my local BMW dealership and it was sorted in a day with a valet included.....

Hi guys...just wanted to say thanks for all the advice. I actually contacted the seller and when I asked more questions, I was told he actually had a better offer elsewhere. I would not have gone for it anyway but good to know I did not miss out on anything special. Thanks again for all the quick advice!

Do a search on the N54 engine.

Make sure you get BMW warranty and you'll be fine.

Its a great car and you can get one from bmw for about £13k nowadays...

Indeed.

I've been unlucky with mine but the warranty covered the costs (certainly over £5k, the one visit I saw the warranty clain for was over £3.5k).

I wasn't impressed by some of the explanations I was given (I might be paraphrasing here):

"It's not the cars, it's the fuel. Supermarket fuel kills the fuel pumps". - I run my car exclusively on V-Power
"You should buy a newer car. They're so complex that the electrics are bound to fail after a few years" - My car was 3 years old when the problems started.
"We gave you transport, that's our policy, we've fulfilled our obligation" - I bought a 335i for entertainment as much as transport. Spending almost two months in a mixture of base model Minis and 1-series is not worth the money I paid for the car.

I could keep going, but I'll wait until I'm safely installed in my next, non-BMW car before going on a full offensive (which won't be limited to just this forum).
