I did some testing tonight trying to figure out if pushing just once on the DTC could get me a better time than trying to control the launch myself, the results were pretty inconclusive. I'm trying to remember if my best launch ever, (the 1.729 sec 60' on JB2HR) was done with the DSC completely disabled or not. My results tonight didn't really show much, but I am wondering on the slippery launch pad if the system might keep tire spin down to a minimum? 1.9 sec @ 35.6mph DSC Completely Off 1.9 sec @ 35.7mph DTC One Push 1.9 sec @ 34.9mph DSC Completely Off 1.9 sec @ 35.7mph DTC One Push 1.9 sec @ 35.7mph DSC Completely Off Different Road: 2.0 sec @ 35.7mph DSC Completely Off 2.1 sec @ 34.8mph DSC One Push

im tempted to try some VP 104 unleaded, but im concerned...one, its $100 for 5gals. two, once i get the feel of the extra hp, i wont be happy anymore on regular gas. we learned from my friends stage3 srt4...thought stage3 off HOM was dirty quick till we put it in HOM on C16...really sucked to go back. haha.
congrats on those ridiculous times. the chances of you having two factory freaks are slim so i think its coming down to your driving. keep up the great work, can't wait to see you pop out a 11sec pass with tune/DR/high oct only. teri

That really sucks about the 1.77 run.
You would have probably been 12 flat.

Also, the Vbox tends to be conservative on the ET. It usually rounds up on the ETs. So a 11.99 will read 12.0 instead of 11.9. A 1.85 sec 60' will read 1.9, etc. So usually if there is a surprise, it is a pleasant one. I honestly could tell how I was running everytime without even needing the time slip to verify it!

kinda a newb in terms of drag racing. But would putting something heavy in the trunk help with the launch? Or would the disadvantages of adding weight outweigh (no pun intended) the advantages that it could have on the launch?

It should have cut about .10 sec of my ET, would have been in the 11's definitely. Every .10 will cut about .20 of the ET. Just look at the dragtimes.com listing, see how the VIP and Burger Motorsports cars got into the 11's with much slower 1/4 and 1/8 mile traps, you can see the direct correlation between their 60' times and mine, and how it relates to their 1/4 mile ET.

HotRod,
Have you been able to do any 1/4 mile runs with the different maps on jb3 1.2? How do they compare with each other? Lagfix vs no lag fix or hotter map vs high boost? I'm thinking if you are using run flats, the difference is negated due to traction issues. |

HotRod,
Congrats man, fantastic work out there!! If you had an LSD, what kind of times do you think you could run? I'm thinking about getting an LSD, but am wondering if it is worth it or not? |

With the automatic, the biggest challenge is trying to manage how much boost you want to leave with to balance between leaving with too little power, or too much wheel spin.

I agree with your observation. My ecu doesn't instantly adapt as most folks would theorize. It takes a few runs before it fully adapts to all the map changes.

Let me know if anyone is in the market for my 275/40/17 Nitto 555R Extreme Drag Radials. I just ran a 12.076 @ 117.308 on them a couple of weeks ago at Sacramento. They look failry worn, but really are only supposed to be 6/32" brand new. Look at the Nitto website and see how shallow the tread is on the brand new one in the picture. Mine have 4/32 on the edges and 2/32 in the middle. So realistically they still have plenty of drag strip runs left on them. Usually they run about $400/pr. Since they are essentially over 1/2 worn, I will sell them for $100/pr. Great for someone that just needs some tires for a couple of events, but doesn't want to buy brand new tires. These are what reduce my 1/4 mile times from a 12.6-12.8 to the 12.2-12.4 range in normal street driving, pump gas. $100 is for the tires only. NOT THE WHEELS! But if you want K1s, the wheels are on sale at Tire Rack for $175 each now. Hopefully someone in Southern California might be interested close to Ventura County, or I'm willing to drive to SFV.

Out of curiosity, what kind of DA are you running when you run the 11.9s and 12.0s at Sacramento? With Shiv and others running those insane times also, I'm starting to think that Sacramento is another MIR. (MIR hits -2000 DA on occasion in the fall). I do a lot of drag racing and with a full auto, it is simply an issue of traction and DA (and weight). Lightweight rims do help too.
BTW, I'm not trying to put down your accomplishments, congratulations are in order! But, it would be nice to know the DA at the time. My ET varies from 12.4s to 12.8s simply on DA alone. |

Are you swapping DRs? If you are, get the MTs and get them in 245s. With "only" 400 whp, you don't need 275s. The 245s with stick just as well and give you less rotating weight.
