Gecko locked my fob in my car!!!!!

Here goes, wife and i went the beach Sat at honeymoon island in Fl. Get to the beach get out if car, lock car. Go to trunk, open it to get the container we use to carry everything in. Before taking it out of the trunk i take off my shirt, throw the fob into the container (still in trunk) we put some sun block on, and wife spots a huge gecko on the underside of the trunk. I start attempting to catch it, it runs around to the outside part of the trunk and instinctively i shut the trunk real quick so it didnt go back inside.........FML key in container in trunk and car locked. All happened in a matter of seconds.

AAA shows up and i was curious as to how they were going to get in. He inserted a thick steel wire carefully to the door lock button on the dash then quickly opened the latch with the same wire. Guy was impressive.

Lol

I thought our cars prevented trunk from closing if key is in there. Good to know!

If you have comfort access it prevents the key from being locked in the trunk. If you don't have comfort access it doesn't

I guess comfort access sounds worth it for situations like this. Good story...

I think all that was missing was a pick axe to the trunk!

While watching that I was thinking "Who would do that to their car instead of calling a locksmith".

Then the camera panned to the locksmith van.

It also looks like he drilled four large holes in the trunk before breaking out the grinder.

Note to self: Never trust a locksmith who wears sandals when on the job.

op, you are lucky AAA was able to unlock the doors using the button on a dash, because if you double lock the car, hitting the lock button twice it would have disabled the door lock button on the dash.

To the idiots in the video, who allows someone to take a grinder to their car.

tempted to try this comfort access key thing at lunch with my trunk. but wait, if the car wasn't locked, couldn't you just open the trunk? so if your car is locked first then you try to lock the keys in the trunk it won't work?

Lol when that happened to me on my last e46, I would break the inner part of the tail light, then reach in and open the trunk with my hand. Cost about $40 for a new tail light piece.

Good Luck! I hope you have an extra key handy. I locked my CA keyfob in my e93 trunk not too long ago. And unlike OP, I was not able to unlock the trunk from the inside. I have the OEM alarm, i'm not sure if that changes anything.

The holes are normal. The cutting is beyond me however. This guy is clearly not set up for the line of work he is in.
