Pop/Click on automatic gear shifter in neutral

I noticed that if I rev past 2500 rpms while the car is in neutral, I can feel a pop/click while holding the gear shifter. Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks

it is the safety that stops you from switching gears with your foot off the brake. Once the car is at a certain speed, this safety is released.
