Jacking up rear of e90

As title says i was wondering what was the best way to go about putting the rear on jack stands. The reason for doing this is that i need to adjust the handbrake mechanism. Any tips would be appreciated.

There is flat subframe panel/carrier underneath the rear, about 2-3 foot back from the back of the car, before the diff.

It'll look similar to 'A' in this (picture ripped from net)

Align your jack dead middle of wheels, feed it in from the rear, dead center, with a block of wood on it (section of fence post ect) to make sure you get enough height when jacked to fit stand under the side jack points.

Easy.

It's fine to jack the diff on an e90, in fact I believe it's in the manual. Just don't place the jack against the rear cover plate

Borrow someones ramps. Or build some yourself with some scaffold boards or similar wood. Less faff than jacking.

The rear diff is fine as long as you use a soft jack pad.

Hi thanks for that, mine is a manual . I have a low profile jack so will need a block of wood i guess as well.
Ramps would be usefull, but for this job i will be taking both rears wheels off so will need to use stands.

You can get away without removing the rear wheels, take a wheel bolt out and turn the wheel until the bolt hole lines up with the adjuster, you will need a torch.

You can then adjust with a long shaft screwdriver.

No reason too as long as the car is in neutral so you can spin the wheel. To do this correctly you should release the tension on the handbrake cable however by pushing in the spring under the handbrake cover so it locates on a little hook that's built into the assembly. When your done push the spring in a little further so it unhooks then release it again .
