Bavarian Technic Professional Coding
Has anybody coded anything with the Bavarian Technic Professional? Seems like it can code anything, but difficult to figure out, anybody did it?

This question has been asked & answered many times.
Only the Bav Tech Pro is 'supposedly' able to code based on their description. But no one that I know of has got it to work, and even Bav Tech has admitted that it doesn't do the type of coding we are doing... So if you don't already have the Bav Tech setup, and coding is what you want to do - then just get the correct eBay cable for $90, download/install the software and follow the instructions found in the 1st post of Coding thread to save yourself $$ If you already have the Bav Tech, and bought it planning on coding, I think you are SOL

Thats sucks, people paying 600+ for a bavarian technic cable, and cant even do what a 90 dollar cable can!. Bavarian Technic gotta step it up b/c an orlando college student is beating them in their own game!

Companies like Bavarian Technic and such have to reverse engineer BMW's way of doing things. If they bundled up the NCS Expert/WinKFP software with their cable BMW would sue them out of existence. I'm sure their cable would work with the software without much fuss, the issue is reverse engineering the software and integrating into their product in such a way that BMW doesn't come after them for stealing their code. There are a few companies which have reverse engineered BMW's software and make commerical products that will do all the custom coding you want, like Autologic, but expect the $10,000 price tag on the product. |

Nicely put in the real world terms! Still I would love for the Bavarian technic professional cable to code things like the alarm system, or sirius! Still a very useful cable though, cant argue that!!!

I'm sure it will eventually get there. It took Autologic several years of reverse engineering and they also have a few ex-BMW engineers on staff (if I remember correctly). That's why they can do all the different unofficial retrofits they do.

Hopefully it'll happen, I bet sales of the pro cable will sky rocket once its done! Can you imagine NCS expert type software incorporated with the BT software, in a user friendly format!! E90 tuners dream right there!!!
