Bluetooth issue

Hi guys

My 2007 320d M Sport has Bluetooth fitted, Professional audio but no Nav.

My phone, a Galaxy Nexus, will pair with the system fine but I'm unable to dial using voice commands or accept/close calls using the phone button on the steering wheel. If I try and make a call, the stereo just hangs and I need to turn off bt on my phone before functionality returns.

If I control the calls via my phone, BT works OK.

Is this just a compatibility issue with my phone or the BT system?

My phone is rooted but running stock android 4.2.1

Ta

you could try d/l the app 'Bluetooth File Transfer' and try to pair the car using that app instead of stock app.
I have same phone and same rooted 4.2.1 , there definitely seems to be a problem. Sometimes my phone connects , sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't and I turn my BT off on the phone , it hangs and have to reboot to connect.
I do have BT speakers in my house and it prefers to connect to that first so maybe there is some mileage in deleting all BT devices from the phone apart from the car and see how it fares.

I only connect to the car using the bt on my phone. Will try the app.

Thanks

Just a thought, but you don't have any other call apps (e.g Skype) installed on the phone do you?

I had an issue once where the phone (Galaxy S3) would pair but wouldn't dial calls using iDrive. Turned out it was Android prompting for input on the phone screen for the default application to use for the call operation.

Probably not your issue, but worth checking.

Cheers for the heads-up. I do have Skype installed. Will check it out.

I've uninstalled Skype and Lync 2010 off my phone, re-paired my phone again and it now appears to be working!

I'll monitor it and update if I have any issues.

Thanks again guys for the suggestions.

It appears I spoke too soon.

Still hit and miss as to whether the voice dial works or not. Sometimes phone dials fine and others system hangs and bt needs to be cycled before dialling works .

Dialling from phone itself works fine, but as I have voice dialling I'd rather use this.

Anyone know which Android phones work with circa 2007 BMW bluetooth?

Wife's iphone 4 works perfectly

what's the build number ?
Mine is JOP40D

As suggested before , it's an issue with 4.2.1 , in fact it's been a problem with Jellybean full stop, ICS and it worked fine for me.

Your issue is the same for me , a bit hit and miss ( i-drive version)

To work around ,If you turn bluetooth off on your phone before you get in the car , then turn it on when you start the car and you will be ok.

Q. Have you changed the name of your phone recently ?
