will ICBC pay for MODS damages....

My car is 323i and it has halogen now if I upgraded to OEM Xenon,
chrome bumper grilles, chrome kidneys, fog lamps... etc
and let's say someone damage my MOD parts such as xenon headlights etc....
do ICBC insurance covers that???

probably not. they will look at what you bought/came with the car. unless you pay extra to insure your mod's, i dont think they will cover. xenon's are not standard with the 323i no matter what options you get.

if the accident is pretty severe, itll be a write off, if not, then it all depends on your insurance adjuster. oemm stuff like that, probably will slip by. they'll look at year & model, and estimate how much $$ it will cost to repair the damage. after that, they may simply cut you a check for that amount. if you require more extensive repairs, you may want to go shop around for the cheapest garage so you can get more for less!

Yes, avoid accident at all costs. Even if it means driving like a granny in a mod-car.

I don't know whether it's the same for ICBC but in Ontario if you want aftermarket add-on's insured, you have to add it to your policy, otherwise they will just assume everything is OEM stock.

they will pay for you.
they will let the shop order the parts for you.. and shop will send bill to ICBC..
at least that's what I think.
my friend had $4k wheels on his 350z, wheels were bent, his car was totalled off, ICBC paid his wheels too.

ICBC cover after market parts.

as long as you have a porper receipt.

i used to have a AC carbon front lip on my car. someone stole the whole front bumper and that's with the AC lip. went to ICBC and they cover everything.

i got my m-technik kit when someone nearly took off my front bumper. i had to pay the difference between the OEM bumper and the m bumper, but the auto body shop and ICBC didn't care as long as they weren't out of pocket any extra than what OEM would have cost.

had i been really thinking, i would have ended up with euro xenons out of the whole thing too...

What?? Your whole bumper was taken? Where did you park?

And for the topic of this thread, I think ICBC is pretty generous about aftermarket add-ons. (I may be wrong )

Someone rear ended my altima before, and I got SE-R rear bumper (does anyone care about SE-R here? ). They don't really care about parts as long as price for them does not exceed the expected price.

But the best thing would be.... trying to avoid accidents!!

i parked right in front of my house. then when i get to my car in the morning, i found that my front bumper is gone. then i call icbc right away to make an appointment and actually can bring the car in the same day. When the adjuster saw my car, his only comment is "i would not cover anything if you keep driving your car without the front bumper. i will tow it to the body shop for you right now"

in case of accident, if ICBC can see the aftermarket parts are installed, they will pay.
for the stolen case, you need to have the receipts of both the part and the installation. Just like the subwoofer, if you mount it in your trunk and it is stolen, they will pay. If you just put it in your trunk, they will not pay.

for stolen bumpers, most of the case ICBC does not want to pay, coz ppl can easily remove their bumper and throw it away after they hit something and the bumper is the only damage part.
