Golf R mk 7
At the drag strip the other week - went up against one.
Assume it was stock because it wasn't close - note REVO /APR claim 3.9sec 0-100 from simple stage 1 tune. EA888 gen 3 - the new n54 of today? not bad from a 2.0t! I test drove one after and it is a nice car in terms of grip and power delivery. The artificial engine sound is not to my liking though. #nohatchforme Anyone else had any runs against these hot hatches? Last edited by jb4335msport; 03-25-2015 at 08:08 PM.. |

Interesting - so the 3.9 sec stage 1 claim is a porky pie!?
I must say when I test drove the stock car, the launch control system, dsg and revy 2.0t was a potent combo! |

From those who have raced one does the dsg pump the steptronic or is it not too bad ? Obviously we will have longer legs but i would think the dsg would close the gap ? jb4 n54 have it over a tuned golf r ?

The dsg is the faster gearbox, no surprises there.
I have alpina step- in manual the shifts feel more 'positive' in my car though (eg. throws you back more, whereas the dsg feels fast and seamless). The gap isn't as much as you would think. The AWD launch makes more of a difference, especially using LC! Speaking about launches, despite everything I've read about 2nd gear launches, my times haves been better using 1st gear launches (by 0.25 sec, to 0-100!). The good thing about 2nd gear launches is the consistency. If only we had 335xis here. I have only driven a stock golf 7r so can't comment on how fast the tuned one is. |

Yep agreed, i know they are quick but i could never own one, i wouldn't get around the "little toy girl car hatch half a car" thing. I love the look of the Sirocco, but could never own one coming from an e92 With 2 extra cyls and an extra turbo.

TBH I dont think the 335i is all that great steering response in oem guise at least, my previous car a lexus IS300 with coilovers sways etc was much more responsive and a sweeter handling car. |
