Rub3n's 320d Build Thread
Hey guys, this is my build thread for my 320d.
I only came to this site recently and have already done some stuff, but plenty of other things planned ahead. I also seem to be the only one with an e90 on e90post, way too many coupes, they will soon learn there place So this is my ride Current mods: Vinyl decor Painted grills (gone through like 4 colour changes) 19 inch Mercedes rims, machined to fit and Diy painted White angel eyes 8000k xenon bulbs Front bumper wind splitters Custom black inside trim Mars smoked rear tail lights Armour all wash and wax K&N high flow air intake Custom 2.5" exhaust from back of cat Planned mods: Bigga turbo Dpf/cat removal Egr delete Bigger injectors Custom tune Rgb angel eyes would be cool 20" deep concave 5 spoke rims Mars m3 style front and rear bumper Hopefully 7 letter plate with 335CHOP SOOT4U or EATSUT is ok Troll face for negative diesel critics Maybe a BMC CAI M sport steering wheel Forged pistons (unlikely, might be done in the future) If anyone has any other mod recommendations I'm happy to hear it |

Welcome fellow diesel driver!!
UK forums will be a good tool for you to pick up specific 320d mod help, but all the guys here are very helpful regardless |

Just found out my engine won't explode under 3 bar!!!! Looks like 350hp may be a possibility... Just need even bigger injectors than 545d ones. Hopefully zoom garage can supply

I haven't seen many modified diesels, you'd think it'd be easy since they're all turbo. Will be very interesting to see what kind of power it makes.
Have you got a variable geometry single turbo or a twin turbo sequential? I am guessing you'd be going big single twin scroll turbo for an upgrade, hopefully wont be laggy down low.

Stock is a single VG turbo running at something like uh 1.4 or 1.6 bar. Going bigger single turbo because a twin sequential will make labour costs soar, and it's more easier this way because it's almost bolt on fitment. Also I don't know what you mean by twin scroll, but being a hybrid it'll have two propellers. I don't think I'll mind the lag, if it kicks in at 2000 rpm it should be fine. It's a daily car, in normal drive it tries to keep rpm below 2000, in sports mode it uses gear to suit over 2000 rpm. 2.3 bar should be about 200 kW... Though I'm very keen to try 3 bar, turbo is up to 375hp

A twin scroll turbo is a turbo with 2 exhaust gas entry ports for better exhaust gas scavenging:

Maybe give like 1 kW. Thing is newer Ecus will detect that as an issue and you end up actually losing like 3 kW, I may be wrong, but I've been told generally Ecus after 2005 are like this. A cold air intake would be more preferable, but I don't really know where on earth I can stick that thing so it's literally just a pod filter coming off the intake. It improves sound by quite a bit! I can actually hear the turbo spooling inside the cabin too lol, engine also has a deeper tone.

Definitely! THings may go a bit slow for now, sorting out payments, talking with different garages and discussing the build with a guy in Romania who works with these cars and does ~275 Hp on 2.5 bars.

A standard 320D box will blow to pieces at 230KW... in fact likely at levels way less than that.
